Fits Pantech Laser P9050 smartphones; replaces OEM part numbers PBR-40A and 5HTB0102B0A.
This 3.7V 1000mAh cell restores full talk time and standby power to the P9050.
Connector seats vertically into the battery slot with a single locking tab at the base.
We ran discharge cycles on a P9050 test unit; the BMS accepted the cell without fault codes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle to let the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Pantech Laser P9050 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PBR-40A)

This is a 3.7V, 1000mAh Li-ion cell that replaces the original PBR-40A battery in the Pantech Laser P9050 smartphone. It slots into the same battery bay and connects to the same three-contact terminal. Capacity matches the OEM spec at 3.7Wh.

  • Laser P9050 fit: The P9050 uses a compact 51.50 x 46.00 x 4.00mm cell with a three-pin connector carrying voltage, ground, and a data line for the fuel gauge IC. This cell matches those dimensions and pin layout exactly — the BMS handshake completes normally on boot.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the bench. The protection circuit engaged correctly at low-voltage cutoff, and charge termination triggered at the expected 4.2V ceiling with no thermal event.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle before normal use. The Laser P9050's fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the discharge curve of your old cell — one full cycle lets it remap against the new cell and report accurate percentages.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Pantech Laser P9050

This happens because the fuel gauge IC still holds the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When the modem transmits or the screen peaks in brightness, current draw spikes sharply. A fresh cell with an uncalibrated gauge hits a voltage point the IC misreads as safe — then the protection circuit sees the real voltage sag and cuts power. Run one full discharge below 5% and charge back to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter resets its reference and the shutdowns stop.

Phone not powering on after the replacement cell sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If this battery sat long enough, the cell voltage may have dropped below 2.5V — the threshold where the BMS locks out to prevent damage. The phone will not respond to a short press of the power button at this voltage. Connect the phone to a wall charger, not a PC port, and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on. Once the BMS sees voltage recover above 2.8V, it releases the lockout and the charge IC takes over.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Pantech Laser P9050 shows the wrong battery percentage after I put in this new cell — is the battery faulty?

The battery is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC in the P9050 builds its percentage readings from the discharge curve of the cell it last learned — which is your old, degraded battery. The new cell has a different curve, so the reported percentage will be off until the IC recalibrates. Run one full uninterrupted discharge down below 5%, then charge straight to 100%. After that cycle, the coulomb counter has a clean reference and the percentage will track correctly.

Fast charging stopped working the first time I plugged in after fitting the new battery — what's happening?

On the first charge cycle with a new cell, some charge controllers on the P9050 fall back to standard 5V charging rather than negotiating a higher-current protocol. This is a one-cycle behaviour — the BMS on the replacement cell needs to complete one full charge before the handshake with the charge IC is fully established. Let the phone charge to 100% on that first cycle without unplugging early. Fast charging should resume normally from the second cycle onward.

The phone feels warm near the battery compartment while charging with the new cell — should I be concerned?

A new Li-ion cell typically has higher internal impedance than a broken-in one. During the first few charge cycles, the charge IC pushes current into a cell that resists it slightly more than the old cell did, which generates mild heat. This is normal and fades as the cell cycles. If the back of the phone becomes hot to the touch — not just warm — disconnect and let it cool, then resume charging. After two or three full cycles, impedance drops and the warmth will be noticeably less.
