Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Peli 8050 M11 / 8060 LED — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 4.8V, 4600mAh Ni-MH battery pack built as a direct replacement for the Peli 8050 M11 and 8060 LED flashlights. These are high-output professional torches used in law enforcement, military, and emergency response. The pack matches the original voltage, cell count, and form factor so the flashlight driver sees no difference at startup.
- 8050 M11 and 8060 LED compatibility: Both lights run the same 4.8V four-cell Ni-MH pack on the same connector and share identical driver voltage requirements. One replacement covers both models without any modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the 8050 M11 driver. The driver stepped down output cleanly at the expected low-voltage threshold, and the BMS held stable current delivery across all output modes without dropout.
- Multi-cell replacement rule: This pack contains four cells wired in series. Never mix this new pack with any remaining old cells from the original assembly. A weaker cell in a series string drains first, reverses polarity under high-current draw, and degrades permanently within a few cycles.
Flashlight driver stepping down output before the indicator hits low
The 8050 M11 driver monitors pack voltage in real time, not just state-of-charge percentage. As cell voltage drops under load, the driver reduces current to the LED before the battery indicator registers low — this protects the cells from damage under high-draw conditions. It is not a fault; it is brownout protection working correctly. A worn pack will trigger this step-down earlier in the discharge cycle than a fresh one.
One cell draining faster than the rest in a multi-cell pack
In a four-cell series string, any cell with lower capacity than the others hits cutoff voltage first. The driver sees the overall pack voltage drop and shuts down, leaving charge in the remaining three cells. Over time, repeated deep discharge of that single weak cell causes polarity reversal, permanently destroying it. Replace the full pack as a unit and check that the charger reads a full pack voltage of 5.6–6.0V at charge completion.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Peli 8050 M11 dims significantly before the battery indicator shows low — is the pack failing or is that normal?
The 8050 M11 driver steps down LED output when pack voltage sags under load, which happens before the indicator registers low. On a fresh pack, this step-down occurs near the genuine end of charge. On an ageing pack, it starts earlier because individual cells have lost capacity and voltage drops faster under draw. If dimming starts noticeably early in a session, the pack is due for replacement — confirm by checking open-circuit voltage after a full charge, which should read 5.6–6.0V.
In turbo mode my Peli 8050 M11 seems to run down much faster than in standard mode — why is the difference so large?
Turbo mode pulls significantly more current from the pack than standard or medium modes — often five to ten times more, depending on driver configuration. Ni-MH cells also deliver less usable capacity at high discharge rates, so the gap between turbo and standard runtime is larger than the wattage difference alone suggests. This is normal electrochemistry, not a defective pack. If turbo runtime has shortened noticeably compared to when the light was new, the pack has degraded and should be replaced.
My Peli 8060 LED cuts out mid-use and only recovers after the pack sits for a few minutes — what causes that?
This is voltage recovery after a load-induced sag. When the pack is near end of charge, current draw from the driver pulls cell voltage below the driver's cutoff threshold, triggering shutdown. Resting the pack allows voltage to bounce back slightly, which is why the light briefly restores. The driver is protecting the cells, but the underlying cause is a pack that can no longer hold voltage under the flashlight's operating current. Charge the pack fully and check that it reaches 5.6–6.0V — if it cannot hold that after a full charge cycle, replace the pack.
