Fits Pharos PTL525P and replaces OEM battery part number PZX45.
3.7V, 1100mAh lithium-ion cell delivers the voltage required for this PDA's processor and wireless modules during field use.
Connector seats into the standard Pharos battery slot with no locking tab — slides straight in and seats flush against the compartment wall.
We bench-tested this cell in a PTL525P running GPS and data sync; the BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault delay or voltage regulation issues.
Perform a full data sync to the host computer before removing the old battery — this PDA stores open files and application state in RAM powered by the main cell, and removal without syncing causes data loss.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Pharos PTL525P / Traveler GPS 525 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PZX45)

This 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-ion battery replaces OEM part PZX45 in the Pharos PTL525P, Traveler GPS 525, 525e, and 525t pocket PC and PDA handhelds. It fits the original battery bay and connects to the same BMS interface as the factory cell. Use the capacity figure from the product data: 1100mAh / 4.07Wh.

  • PTL525P and Traveler GPS 525 series compatibility: These models share a common 3.7V single-cell architecture, the same PZX45 form factor, and the same BMS handshake protocol — that's why one replacement cell covers the full lineup without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on the PTL525P platform and confirmed the BMS accepted charge, reported state-of-charge correctly to the OS, and held voltage above the low-battery cutoff threshold through a full discharge cycle.
  • Pre-swap data sync — do this before pulling the battery: The PTL525P holds open application state and unsaved contacts in SRAM powered directly by the main battery. Remove the cell without syncing first and that data is gone. Connect to ActiveSync or your host PC and confirm sync is complete before the swap.

Why the PTL525P won't boot after a new battery is installed

A fresh replacement cell ships partially discharged — typically between 30% and 50% charge. The PTL525P boot sequence draws a short high-current spike that a low-voltage cell can't sustain, so the device either shows a blank screen or cycles off immediately. This isn't a fault with the battery or the device. Charge the new cell for at least two hours before attempting the first boot. Voltage needs to be above 3.6V before the boot sequence will complete reliably.

GPS lock taking longer than usual after a battery replacement

The Traveler GPS 525 series stores almanac and ephemeris data in battery-backed memory. When the main cell is fully removed, that data clears — the GPS receiver loses its last known satellite positions and has to perform a cold start. A cold start acquisition can take several minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Once the unit has locked and run a full session, it writes fresh almanac data back to memory and subsequent lock times return to normal.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Pharos PTL525P lost all my contacts and calendar entries after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes, and it's a direct consequence of how the hardware works. The PTL525P stores active data — contacts, calendar, open app state — in SRAM that is powered by the main battery. The moment the cell is removed, that RAM loses power and the data is gone. The fix going forward is to run a full ActiveSync sync to your host PC before pulling the battery, so everything is written to non-volatile storage before the cell comes out.

The battery drains much faster when I'm using the GPS navigation than when the screen is just on — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. The GPS receiver and its signal-processing circuit draw significantly more current than the display or CPU alone. On the Traveler GPS 525 series, active satellite acquisition is one of the highest-draw states the device enters, and it runs continuously while navigating. This is normal hardware behaviour, not a battery fault. To slow the drain, reduce screen brightness and close background applications while the GPS is active.

My PTL525P shows a full charge icon but then drops to low battery within minutes of unplugging — what's causing that?

This is a voltage calibration mismatch between the new cell and the OS fuel gauge. The device's charge reporting is calibrated to the discharge curve of the original cell; a new cell with a slightly different internal resistance can confuse the gauge at first. Run two or three full charge-to-cutoff cycles without interrupting mid-cycle. After that, the fuel gauge recalibrates to the actual cell curve and the reported charge level will track correctly.
