Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Philips Avent SCD510/75 Series — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BY1146)

This is a 2.4V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the parent unit of the Philips Avent SCD510/75 digital baby monitor. It also fits the SCD520/60, SCD525/00, and SCD525/97 parent units. OEM part numbers BY1146, CRP395, and CRP395/01 all cross-reference to this cell.

  • SCD510/75, SCD520/60, and SCD525 compatibility: These parent units share the same 2.4V single-cell Ni-MH bay, connector orientation, and BMS charge profile. One battery services all of them without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge cycling on an SCD520/60 parent unit. The onboard charge controller accepted the battery immediately, completed a full charge cycle without fault, and the unit held video link throughout the test session.
  • Re-pair the parent unit after swap: Baby monitors lose their stored wireless link when the parent unit drops to zero voltage. After fitting this battery, charge the parent unit fully, then hold the pairing button on both the parent unit and camera unit until the link indicator confirms connection.

Parent unit battery draining overnight during normal use

Leaving the parent unit screen on all night is a sustained draw that a degraded original battery cannot sustain — but a new cell needs to be conditioned first. Ni-MH cells straight out of storage often ship at partial charge, so the first full charge cycle matters. Enable the screen timeout in the monitor settings to reduce sustained current draw during night hours. A fully charged fresh cell will handle overnight standby audio monitoring without screen-on drain.

Night vision drops out immediately after battery replacement

The IR LED array in the camera unit draws a short burst of current when night vision activates. This does not drain the parent unit battery — the camera has its own power supply. If night vision is absent after a parent unit battery swap, the cause is a broken wireless link, not the battery voltage. Re-pair the parent and camera units, then confirm the room is dark enough to trigger the IR threshold. Night vision activates automatically below approximately 1 lux.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Avent SCD510/75 parent unit won't connect to the camera unit after I put the new battery in — what's wrong?

When the parent unit fully loses power, it drops its stored pairing data. The camera unit still holds its side of the link, but the parent unit needs to re-establish it. Charge the parent unit fully first — the radio module needs adequate voltage to complete the handshake. Then hold the pairing button on both units simultaneously until the connection indicator on the parent unit confirms the link.

The range on my Avent monitor dropped noticeably after swapping the battery — was the replacement battery faulty?

The radio transmitter in the parent unit is voltage-sensitive — a partially charged Ni-MH cell reduces the signal power it can output, which shrinks effective range. This is not a fault in the battery. Charge the parent unit fully before judging range, as Ni-MH cells straight from storage typically ship at 30–50% charge. After a complete charge cycle, test range again from the same distance you used previously.

The parent unit charges but the battery indicator drops to one bar within a couple of hours — is this normal for a new Ni-MH cell?

No. A new 700mAh Ni-MH cell should sustain the parent unit well beyond a couple of hours of normal use. The most likely cause is that the charge controller cut the charge cycle short due to a false peak detection — common with Ni-MH cells that have been in storage. Run two or three full charge-and-use cycles to condition the cell and allow the charge controller to calibrate. If the bar indicator still drops rapidly after three cycles, check that the charging contacts on the battery and bay are clean and making firm contact.
