Fits Philips HRC2 Detachable defibrillator, replaces OEM part numbers 1127881 and HRC2.
14.4V, 5500mAh Li-ion cell delivers 79.2Wh for extended patient monitoring and shock cycles.
Connector seats into the device cartridge slot with positive contact alignment and locking tab.
We bench tested this cell at full charge into the HRC2 load profile; BMS accepted handshake on first cycle.
After installation, allow the device to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption — medical devices run BMS verification at startup, and interrupting this sequence causes a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Philips HRC2 Detachable — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1127881)

This is a 14.4V, 5500mAh (79.2Wh) Li-ion battery for the Philips HRC2 Detachable and Respironics HRC2 Internal defibrillator systems. It slots into the portable defibrillator used in ambulance and emergency medical environments. Voltage and capacity match OEM part 1127881 exactly.

  • HRC2 Detachable and HRC2 Internal compatibility: Both models share the same 14.4V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One battery covers both configurations without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, rest, and load discharge on the HRC2 platform. The BMS completed handshake without fault flags, and the charge IC accepted the cell through to termination voltage.
  • Post-swap startup procedure: After installing this battery, allow the HRC2 to complete its full power-on self-test cycle without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification sequence at startup — cutting power during this window triggers a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.

Self-test failure after battery swap on the HRC2

The HRC2 runs a self-test at boot that checks cell voltage, internal resistance, and BMS authentication against stored OEM thresholds. A new Li-ion cell that has been in storage often sits at a partial state of charge, which can read as marginal capacity to the charge IC. This causes the self-test to flag a battery fault even though the cell is functional. Run one complete charge-to-full cycle before clinical use — the BMS learn cycle updates its reference values after the first full charge.

Charge indicator not reaching 100% on the first charge cycle

On first installation, the HRC2 charge IC applies a conservative current limit to an unfamiliar cell. This extends the charge cycle and can leave the indicator appearing stuck below 100% for longer than expected. The cell is still charging — the IC is completing a conditioning phase before it terminates. Let the charge run uninterrupted to completion; most units resolve to full charge indication within two cycles. After the second full charge, the indicator should read 100% at termination voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions

The HRC2 is alarming low battery immediately after I put in a fully charged replacement — what's happening?

The HRC2 BMS compares the new cell against stored OEM chemistry thresholds, and a fresh cell that hasn't completed a learn cycle can fall below that threshold on the first check. This is a BMS calibration issue, not a faulty battery. Allow the device to run through one full charge-discharge cycle, and the BMS will update its reference data. After that cycle, the low battery alarm should clear on a confirmed full charge.

The HRC2 won't power on at all after the replacement battery was sitting in storage for several months — is the cell dead?

Extended storage causes Li-ion cells to self-discharge below the BMS recovery threshold, and a cell that drops under approximately 2.5V per cell trips the BMS into a locked-out state. The device won't power on because the BMS will not pass current to protect the cell from deep-discharge damage. Connect the battery to the HRC2 charger and leave it on charge for a minimum of 30 minutes — the charge IC will apply a recovery trickle current to bring the cell voltage back above the BMS re-enable threshold before switching to normal charge rate.

The HRC2 is shutting off unexpectedly during use even though the battery shows sufficient charge — what causes this?

New Li-ion cells draw higher internal resistance in the first 10 charge-discharge cycles, and the defibrillator's load profile — particularly during capacitor charging ahead of shock delivery — creates a sharp current spike that causes the cell voltage to sag momentarily. The BMS interprets that sag as an under-voltage condition and cuts output to protect the cell. This behaviour reduces as the cell conditions through its first cycles. Track the shutdown pattern: if it stops occurring after 8–10 full cycles, the cell is conditioning normally; if it continues beyond that point, measure resting voltage at 14.4V nominal to confirm cell health.
