Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Philips PageWriter Trim II Series — 12V Sealed Lead Acid Replacement Battery (989803130151)
This 12V 2200mAh (26.4Wh) sealed lead acid battery fits the Philips PageWriter Trim I, Trim II, and Trim III portable ECG machines. It replaces OEM part numbers 989803130151, 110297, M6473, M4992, and M4992-61105. The battery powers the device during patient examinations when mains power is unavailable.
- PageWriter Trim series compatibility: The Trim I, II, and III share the same 12V SLA battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake — one cell fits across the entire platform. The sealed lead acid chemistry matches the charge IC profile the PageWriter expects at startup.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the PageWriter's charge and discharge profile and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without fault codes. The charge controller reached float voltage without triggering a low-battery alarm during the load test.
- Post-swap self-test requirement: After installing this battery, allow the PageWriter to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification sequence at boot — cutting power during this step triggers a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.
Why the PageWriter Trim alarms low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge
The PageWriter's BMS stores a capacity baseline calibrated to the previous cell. When a new cell is installed, the BMS compares its internal resistance and voltage curve against that baseline and can flag a fault before the new cell has established a charge history. This is a BMS learning issue, not a defective cell. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle — charge to float, allow normal discharge during a test session, then recharge fully. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the alarm clears.
PageWriter Trim will not power on after the battery sat in storage
Sealed lead acid cells self-discharge at roughly 3–5% per month. A cell stored for several months can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 10.5V for a 12V SLA — which causes the BMS to block startup entirely. Connect the device to mains power first and leave it on charge for a minimum of 12 hours before attempting to boot on battery alone. If the cell recovers above 10.8V, the BMS will re-enable the battery output and the device will boot normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
The PageWriter Trim shows a low battery warning the moment I switch it on, even though I charged it overnight — is the battery faulty?
This is a BMS calibration mismatch, not a defective cell. The device stores a capacity baseline from the old battery and flags the new cell before it has completed a full cycle. Run one complete charge-to-float, discharge during a non-clinical test session, and recharge fully. After that single cycle, the BMS resets its baseline and the warning clears.
The PageWriter Trim shuts off mid-examination without any prior low battery indication — what is causing this?
New SLA cells have not yet reached stable internal resistance, and the PageWriter's load profile during active ECG acquisition draws enough current to cause voltage sag on a fresh cell. The BMS interprets this sag as a critically low state and cuts output to protect the device. This stabilises after the first 8–10 charge-discharge cycles. Until then, keep the device on mains power for any extended clinical session and reserve battery mode for short, mobile use only.
The charge indicator on the PageWriter Trim stopped at around 80–85% and never reached full on the first charge — should I be concerned?
The PageWriter's charge IC applies a conservative current limit on cells it has not yet characterised. On the first charge, it often halts at a partial state rather than pushing the cell to full float voltage. Leave the device connected to mains for a full 14–16 hours on the first charge rather than the standard 8-hour cycle. The charge IC will reach float voltage — typically 13.6–13.8V for a 12V SLA — and subsequent charges will complete normally.
