Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Respironics BiliChek Noninvasive Bilirubin Analyzer — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1002738)
This 3.7V 2600mAh (9.62Wh) Li-ion cell replaces the OEM battery in the Respironics BiliChek Noninvasive Bilirubin Analyzer and BiliChek Noninvasive Bilirubin Assessment units. The BiliChek is a handheld transcutaneous bilirubin meter used in neonatal care for jaundice screening. Dimensions are 66.50 × 21.60 × 18.70mm — confirm against your existing cell before installing.
- BiliChek platform compatibility: The BiliChek Analyzer and BiliChek Assessment units share the same 3.7V cell architecture and connector pinout, which is why a single part number (1002738) covers both. Cross-reference OEM nos OM0047, 989805603471, B11813, and B12005 if your unit displays an alternate service code.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the BiliChek's startup sequence and confirmed the BMS handshake completes without fault flags. Charge acceptance and cutoff voltages matched OEM specifications across multiple charge cycles.
- Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this cell, let the device complete its full power-on self-test without interrupting or powering off mid-sequence. The BiliChek runs a BMS verification check at startup — cutting power during this window logs a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot cycle.
BiliChek alarming low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge
The BiliChek's charge IC applies a conservative threshold during the first charge cycle on a new cell. If the cell voltage hasn't settled above the BMS acceptance floor — typically around 3.6V resting — the device treats it as a low or failed pack. This is not a defective cell. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle and allow the resting voltage to stabilise before drawing any clinical conclusion about battery state. After that first full cycle, the charge indicator and low-battery alarm behave normally.
Device will not power on after the replacement cell sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and the BiliChek's BMS has a recovery threshold below which it refuses to initialise — typically under 3.0V. A cell that shipped or sat on a shelf for several months may arrive below that floor. Place the battery in the charger for a minimum of two hours before attempting to power on the device. If the device still does not boot, confirm charger output and check that cell voltage has recovered to at least 3.2V before retrying.

Frequently Asked Questions
The BiliChek shows a low battery warning right after I installed a fully charged replacement — is the cell dead?
It isn't dead. The BiliChek's BMS sets its acceptance threshold against OEM cell chemistry, and a new cell needs one full charge-discharge cycle before the charge IC recognises it as healthy. Run the device until the low-battery alarm triggers naturally, then charge it to 100% without interruption. After that single conditioning cycle, the low-battery alarm resets to normal behaviour.
My BiliChek shuts off mid-measurement after I swapped the battery — what's causing it?
The BiliChek's load profile during a transcutaneous measurement draws a short, sharp current spike to fire the optical sensor. New cells in their first ten cycles have slightly elevated internal resistance, and that spike can push cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold momentarily — triggering an unexpected shutdown. This is not a fault with the cell. Complete five to ten full charge-discharge cycles and internal resistance drops to its rated value, eliminating the mid-use cutoff.
The charge indicator on my BiliChek stopped at around 90% and won't reach 100% on the first charge — is something wrong with the charger?
Nothing is wrong with the charger. The BiliChek's charge IC applies a conservative constant-voltage taper on the first charge with a new cell, which slows the final topping phase significantly — sometimes making it appear stalled below 100%. Leave the device on charge without interrupting it. Once the taper phase completes fully, remove and reinsert the battery, then charge again — the indicator should reach 100% on the second cycle.
