Fits Philips Pronto TSU-9600 and TSU-9800 remotes, replacing OEM part number PB9600.
3.7V Li-ion at 2200mAh delivers consistent IR LED output for reliable signal transmission across the touchscreen interface.
Connector slides vertically into the battery slot with no locking tab — orientation marked on the housing interior.
We bench-tested the BMS on first charge cycle with a Philips charger; the protection circuit engaged normally at full capacity with no early cutoff.
Install this cell alone rather than pairing it with an older battery — mixing ages causes the new pack to discharge faster compensating for the weaker cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Philips Pronto TSU-9600 / TSU-9800 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PB9600)

This is a 3.7V Li-ion battery rated at 2200mAh (8.14Wh), built to the same spec as the original PB9600. It fits the Philips Pronto TSU-9600 and TSU-9800 programmable touchscreen remotes. When the original cell degrades, the touchscreen dims, IR range drops, and the remote eventually stops responding — this swap restores full function.

  • TSU-9600 and TSU-9800 shared platform: Both remotes run on the same internal battery bay, connector, and voltage rail. The PB9600 part number covers both units because Philips used the same cell across the platform revision — swapping to the TSU-9800 did not change the power architecture.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the TSU-9600 platform. The BMS accepted the charge handshake cleanly and the touchscreen came up at full brightness without a reset cycle.
  • Connector seating on the TSU-9600: The JST-style connector on this remote sits under a small retaining tab. Press the tab down before pulling the old connector — forcing it sideways cracks the tab and makes future swaps harder. Seat the new connector until it clicks.

Why the TSU-9600 touchscreen goes dim before the remote stops responding entirely

The Pronto TSU-9600 backlight draws more current than the IR transmitter, so as the cell ages and internal resistance climbs, the touchscreen dims first while basic IR commands still fire. This makes it easy to underestimate how far the battery has degraded. By the time IR range drops noticeably, the cell is typically below 3.5V under load. Swap the battery at the first sign of consistent dimming — don't wait for the remote to stop transmitting.

TSU-9600 shows a charging indicator but won't power on after battery swap

This happens when the new cell arrives below the BMS wake threshold — typically under 3.0V after extended shelf storage. The remote's charging circuit will still supply current, but the main board won't boot until the cell reaches approximately 3.2V. Leave it on charge for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power it on. If the charging indicator still won't appear, check that the connector is fully seated and the retaining tab has clicked into place.

Frequently Asked Questions

I installed the new PB9600 battery and the TSU-9600 still won't turn on — what's wrong?

The most common cause is the connector not fully seated — the JST plug needs to click into place under the retaining tab, not just sit in the bay. If the connection is solid, the cell may have shipped below the BMS wake threshold. Put it on charge for 20–30 minutes before trying to power the remote on. The board won't boot below roughly 3.2V even if the charger indicator is lit.

The TSU-9600 works but I have to point it directly at the TV from much closer than before — is the battery the cause?

Yes. The IR LED output on the Pronto drops as cell voltage sags under load. This shows up as reduced range before the remote fails completely. The cell is likely still holding a surface charge but collapsing under the brief high-current burst the IR transmitter needs. Replace the battery — a fresh cell at full 3.7V will restore normal transmission range without changing your pointing angle.

The replacement battery is draining noticeably faster than the original did when it was new — what causes that?

The most likely cause is a stuck or partially depressed button creating a constant parasitic draw. Remove the battery and inspect each button on the face and sides for any that feel spongy or don't spring back fully. A single stuck button can keep the processor awake and drain the cell continuously. If all buttons release cleanly, check that the remote isn't sitting face-down on a surface that's holding a button in — that's enough to keep it active and pull the cell flat overnight.
