Sale priceFrom $35.99 USD Regular price $44.99
Shipping calculated at checkout.
Fits Physiomed VocaSTIM and Vocastim Trainer units; replaces OEM part HR-AAA4U-1000-F3+F4 and PA-A2743-R003.
8.4V and 740mAh (6.22Wh) Ni-MH chemistry sustains full therapeutic cycles on this portable speech stimulation device.
Connector type is proprietary Physiomed; slide battery into the pack slot with the contact pins forward and locking tab secured.
We bench-tested this cell in the Vocastim charge circuit; BMS accepted the new pack after one full charge-discharge cycle without faulting.
After installation, allow the device to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption — medical devices run BMS verification at startup, and interrupting this sequence causes a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Physiomed VocaSTIM / Vocastim Trainer — 8.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (HR-AAA4U-1000-F3+F4)

This 8.4V, 740mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the factory cell in the Physiomed VocaSTIM and Vocastim Trainer. Both devices are portable medical speech stimulation units used in clinical speech therapy and vocal rehabilitation. This cell matches the OEM voltage, connector, and BMS communication requirements for those platforms.

  • VocaSTIM and Vocastim Trainer compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay geometry, 8.4V supply rail, and connector pinout. The BMS on both units reads cell chemistry via the same thermistor line, so a correctly spec'd Ni-MH replacement passes the handshake without triggering a battery fault.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge-discharge cycles on a Ni-MH analyser and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without false fault flags. Capacity delivery at the 740mAh rating was consistent from cycle three onward once the cell chemistry stabilised.
  • Power-on self-test protocol: After installing this cell, let the VocaSTIM complete its full startup self-test without interruption. Medical device BMS firmware runs a battery verification routine at boot — cutting power mid-sequence causes a persistent false battery fault that will not clear until the next complete power cycle from a rested state.

VocaSTIM not completing boot sequence after battery swap

The VocaSTIM runs a BMS learn cycle during its first few boots on a new cell. If the device stalls or alarms during startup, the most likely cause is the BMS flagging the new cell as unverified — this is normal behaviour with a fresh Ni-MH replacement. The BMS on this unit is calibrated for OEM chemistry tolerances and applies a conservative threshold on first contact with a new cell. Complete one full charge from flat, then allow the device to boot without interruption. By the second or third cycle, the BMS accepts the cell and the startup sequence completes normally.

Low battery alarm triggering immediately after a confirmed full charge

A freshly charged replacement cell can still trigger the low battery alarm on the VocaSTIM if the BMS has not yet completed its learn cycle. Ni-MH cells have a slightly different internal resistance profile when new, and the BMS voltage threshold comparison can read this as an undercharged state. This is not a faulty battery — it resolves after one full charge-discharge cycle. Charge the cell completely, allow the device to discharge through normal use, then recharge to 100% before returning to clinical use.

Frequently Asked Questions

My VocaSTIM is shutting off mid-session even though the battery was fully charged before the appointment — what's happening?

New Ni-MH cells deliver full capacity less consistently in the first 10 cycles because internal resistance is higher before the cell chemistry fully conditions. The VocaSTIM's load profile during active stimulation draws harder than standby, which can push a new cell below the BMS cutoff threshold earlier than expected. This is not a faulty battery — capacity delivery stabilises from around cycle three to five onward. Run three full charge-discharge cycles before relying on this cell for uninterrupted clinical sessions.

The VocaSTIM sat unused for several months with the old battery still installed — now it won't power on at all after fitting the new cell. Is the device damaged?

The device is almost certainly fine. Prolonged storage with a depleted cell can push the BMS into a deep-discharge lockout state where it refuses to accept a charge signal until the supply voltage crosses the recovery threshold. Connect the charger and leave it for at least 60 minutes before attempting to power on — many Ni-MH chargers apply a trickle pre-charge to recover cells below 1.0V per cell (7.2V across the pack). If the charge indicator does not respond after 90 minutes, try a different charger that supports Ni-MH recovery mode.

The charge indicator on the VocaSTIM stopped at around 80–90% and hasn't moved for over an hour — is the cell defective?

This is a charge IC behaviour, not a cell defect. Ni-MH chargers using delta-V termination can misread the voltage plateau on a new cell and stop the charge cycle early. The cell is not damaged — it simply hasn't gone through enough cycles for the charge IC to correctly detect the full-charge signature. Remove the battery, reinsert it, and start a fresh charge cycle. After two or three complete cycles, the charge IC reads the cell's full-charge signature accurately and the indicator will reach 100% consistently.
