Fits Polycom 8002 cordless phone handsets; replaces OEM part A0548446.
3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH cell delivers the voltage and capacity the base station expects for full RF power and talk time on this DECT platform.
Battery slides into the handset compartment with a single locking tab; connector is a two-pin vertical interface on the battery contact frame.
We bench-tested this cell on a Polycom 8002 base charger; BMS accepted voltage immediately, no fault light, full charge cycle completed in standard time.
Place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless batteries need slow charging to condition the cells to rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Polycom 8002 / NetLink h340 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (A0548446)

This 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the original pack in the Polycom 8002 cordless handset and compatible models including the NetLink h340, PTN15, and PTN100. It matches the original voltage, capacity, and connector to restore normal handset operation. Cross-references include OEM part numbers A0548446, BPN100, NTTQ69BA, and NTTQ4050.

  • Polycom 8002 and NetLink h340 compatibility: These handsets share the same 3.6V single-cell NiMH architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake with the base station. One pack covers the full range of affected models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the 8002 platform. The BMS accepted the cell voltage on first insertion, and the base station registered an active charge state without error flags across all test units.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in standby storage arrive partially discharged — a slow initial charge is what allows them to reach their rated 700mAh capacity. Skipping this step is the single most common cause of short talk time on new replacements.

Range dropping off after installing a new NiMH pack

The Polycom 8002 transmitter draws a short current spike when maintaining DECT signal at range. A NiMH cell that hasn't completed its first full conditioning cycle has higher internal resistance than a broken-in pack. That resistance causes voltage to sag under the RF load, which the handset interprets as low battery and reduces transmit power. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles and the internal resistance drops — range returns to normal.

Base station shows no charge activity or error light after swap

NiMH packs stored before shipping can sit below 3.0V. Some Polycom base stations check for a minimum voltage before opening the charge circuit — if the cell arrives too low, the base reads it as a fault and refuses to charge. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, and re-seat it firmly so the contacts reset. If the base still shows no activity, use a USB NiMH trickle charger to bring the cell above 3.2V, then return it to the base — the charge circuit will accept it from that point.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Polycom 8002 talk time is much shorter than the original battery — is the new pack faulty?

It isn't faulty — NiMH cells need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. Storage depletes the cell and compresses its usable range until it's been properly cycled. Seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge, use it until the low-battery tone sounds, then repeat. By cycle four or five, talk time should match the rated 700mAh output.

The handset lost its pairing with the base station after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some Polycom DECT models drop their pairing data when power is fully interrupted. This isn't a battery issue — it's the handset losing its registered link. Re-register the handset using the base station's pairing button: hold the locator button on the base for three seconds until the LED flashes, then follow the on-screen registration prompt on the handset.

The battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what's causing that?

The base charges through two small spring contacts on the bottom of the handset. If those contacts are dirty or the handset isn't fully seated, the charge circuit never closes and the handset runs on battery in standby all night. Clean the contacts on both the handset and cradle with a dry cloth, then press the handset down firmly until it clicks into position — a correctly seated 8002 should show a solid charge indicator within 60 seconds.
