  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran charge and discharge cycles on this cell type to confirm the BMS accepts charge termination cleanly at full capacity and that the motor circuit draws expected current without voltage sag tripping early cutoff.
  • Charging port care before connecting: Dry the charging contacts and port completely after rinsing the shaver — moisture bridging the contacts can trigger a protection fault the device reports as a dead battery rather than a charging error.

Capacity fade from daily partial cycling on the TF600

Ni-MH cells in shavers degrade faster when partially cycled every day rather than run down properly before recharging. The shaver's delta-V charge termination circuit starts to misjudge full capacity because the cell voltage curve becomes compressed. This causes the indicator to show full charge while actual usable capacity is significantly lower. Running the shaver to cutoff before a full charge cycle helps recalibrate the voltage curve.

Motor speed drops before the low-battery indicator activates

This happens because Ni-MH voltage sags under motor load before it drops low enough to trigger the indicator threshold. The shaver's indicator is tied to resting cell voltage, not load voltage — so the motor slows noticeably while the indicator still shows charge remaining. A worn cell makes this gap wider. Replacing the cell restores the load voltage to a level that keeps motor speed consistent through most of the discharge cycle.

My Remington TF600 shaver cuts out or slows down well before the battery indicator says it's low — what's happening?

The battery indicator reads resting cell voltage, not the voltage under motor load. An aged Ni-MH cell sags under the current draw of the cutting motor, dropping speed or triggering cutoff before the indicator catches up. This gap widens as the cell degrades. Replacing the cell closes that gap — the motor should maintain consistent speed through most of the discharge cycle.

The shaver stopped charging after I rinsed it — it just flashes or shows dead. Is the battery gone?

Moisture bridging the charging contacts causes a BMS protection trip that the TF600 reports as a dead battery rather than a charging fault. Dry the contact pins and port thoroughly — a cotton swab in the contact recess helps — then leave it for 30 minutes before reconnecting to the charger. If the shaver still won't accept charge after a full dry-out, the cell itself may have discharged below the 0.9V recovery threshold and will need replacing.

The shaver feels noticeably warm after a few passes — is that normal or a sign the battery is failing?

Some warmth is normal — the motor and the Ni-MH cell both generate heat in a small housing during discharge. If the warmth has increased compared to when the shaver was new, that usually means the cell's internal resistance has risen with age. Higher internal resistance turns more energy into heat instead of motor output. A new cell at correct impedance will run cooler at the same load.
