Fits Rii Mini i8 Fly Air Mouse and Mini i18 remote control units, replacing the original 3.7V lithium-ion cell.
3.7V 1200mAh chemistry delivers consistent IR LED output for full control range without signal dropout.
Cylindrical cell slides into the battery compartment with positive terminal facing the spring contact.
We bench-tested the BMS on a fresh charge cycle — voltage held steady at 3.7V with clean contact resistance under IR load simulation.
On first install, verify polarity orientation by checking the compartment markings — reversed polarity is the most common cause of remote malfunction after battery swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Rii Mini i8 / Mini i18 Fly Air Mouse — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V 1200mAh Li-ion battery for the Rii Mini i8 and Mini i18 Fly Air Mouse wireless remotes. These handheld devices control media playback, cursor movement, and menu navigation on smart TVs, Android boxes, and PCs. Replace this cell when the remote stops holding a charge or powers off unexpectedly during use.

  • Mini i8 and Mini i18 compatibility: Both models use the same 3.7V single-cell Li-ion configuration with matching connector pinout and physical dimensions of 53.00 × 33.90 × 5.70mm — the cell slots into either unit without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran charge and discharge cycles on this cell and confirmed the protection circuit trips correctly at low-voltage cutoff and releases cleanly on recharge without requiring a manual reset.
  • Connector orientation on reinstall: The Mini i8 JST-style connector is not reversible by force — check that the locking tab clicks before closing the housing. A half-seated connector causes intermittent power loss that looks like a dead cell but isn't.

Why the Mini i8 loses gyroscope tracking before the remote stops responding entirely

The air mouse gyroscope in the i8 draws more current than basic IR functions. As the cell ages and internal resistance rises, voltage sags under gyro load even when the remote still powers on for basic button presses. You'll notice cursor drift or tracking failure while button inputs still register — that's a voltage-sag symptom, not a firmware issue. At that point the cell is below usable capacity and a swap will restore full function.

Remote registers no input at all immediately after battery swap

A fully unresponsive remote straight after fitting a new cell is almost always a connector seating issue or a cell that shipped in deep-discharge protection lockout. Check the connector tab first — it must click fully into place. If the connection is solid, plug the remote into USB charge for 10–15 minutes to let the protection circuit recover from a sub-2.5V resting state, then retest.

Frequently Asked Questions

The remote worked fine before, but after fitting this new battery it does absolutely nothing — no lights, no response. What's wrong?

The most likely cause is the JST connector not fully seated — even a slightly loose connection breaks the circuit entirely. Press the connector in until the locking tab clicks. If the cell arrived deeply discharged, the built-in protection circuit may have tripped; connect the remote to USB charge for 10–15 minutes to bring the cell above the 2.5V recovery threshold before testing again.

My Rii Mini i8 cursor is drifting and the gyroscope feels sluggish even though the remote still turns on — could that be the battery?

Yes. The gyroscope draws significantly more current than IR button presses, so a degraded cell sags under gyro load while still supplying enough voltage for basic functions. This creates erratic cursor movement or tracking dropout that looks like a sensor fault but is actually a voltage issue. Swap the cell and the gyroscope response should return to normal immediately.

The new battery seems to drain noticeably faster than I expected — is something wrong with the remote?

Fast drain in a low-draw device like this is usually a stuck or partially depressed button creating a constant parasitic draw. Open the remote and check that no key is jammed under the housing edge — even slight pressure keeps the MCU active and pulls current continuously. If all buttons clear freely, verify the replacement cell is fully charged before drawing conclusions; cells shipped in storage state can show misleading early drain figures until they complete one full charge cycle.
