Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ring Alarm Home Base Pro Station — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (5E42E9)
This 7.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion cell replaces the internal backup battery in the Ring Alarm Home Base Pro Station (Part No 5E42E9). The Home Base Pro is the central hub that manages all wireless sensors and connectivity in a Ring alarm system. When AC power drops, this battery keeps the hub live and the alarm system running.
- Ring Alarm Home Base Pro compatibility: The Home Base Pro uses a dedicated 7.4V Li-ion cell to sustain its communication processor, Z-Wave radio, and cellular backup module during mains failure. The BMS in this unit negotiates charge state directly with the hub controller — voltage, cell count, and connector orientation must match the OEM spec exactly for the panel to accept the cell.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell against the Home Base Pro's charge circuit and confirmed the BMS handshake completes correctly. The panel accepted the cell, initiated charge, and cleared the low-battery flag within the expected float window.
- First charge after installation: Leave the hub connected to mains power for 24–48 hours after fitting this cell before running any zone or diagnostic test. The Home Base Pro samples battery state continuously, and a partially charged cell will trigger a low-battery alert even if the cell is good.
Why the Home Base Pro reports low battery immediately after fitting a new cell
The Home Base Pro does not reset its battery flag at the moment of installation. The panel's firmware monitors voltage over time and only clears the low-battery status once the cell has held a stable float charge — typically 24 to 48 hours on mains. Pulling the hub off AC power or running a system test during this window will cause the panel to re-flag the battery as low, because the cell hasn't yet reached the threshold voltage the firmware expects. Keep the hub plugged in and let the charge cycle complete before testing.
Alarm losing saved programming during a power outage after battery replacement
If the Home Base Pro drops its configuration during an outage, the replacement cell was not yet accepted by the panel's backup circuit. This happens when the battery is installed but not given enough time on float charge to reach full capacity — the panel draws from mains and flags the battery as insufficient for sustaining memory during a transfer. The fix is straightforward: reconnect to mains, allow 48 hours of uninterrupted charging, then simulate an outage by unplugging the hub. If the panel holds its programming through that test, the cell is conditioned and accepted. Target float voltage at the cell terminals is 8.4V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Ring Alarm Home Base Pro still shows a low battery warning 2 hours after I fitted the new cell — is the replacement faulty?
Almost certainly not. The Home Base Pro's firmware clears the low-battery flag only after the cell has held a stable float charge for 24–48 hours on mains — a fresh cell at partial charge will trigger the same warning as a dead one. Keep the hub plugged in and do not run any tests during this window. Check the app again after 48 hours; if the warning persists past that point, check the cell is seated fully and the connector is locked.
The siren didn't sound during my test activation right after swapping the battery — what's wrong?
The Home Base Pro applies a charge-stabilisation delay to the siren output when a new or recently disconnected battery is detected. This delay is typically 30–60 seconds from the moment backup power is confirmed stable — triggering a test before that window closes can result in no siren output. Wait at least one minute after the panel shows a connected battery status, then run the test again. If the siren still doesn't fire, verify the hub has completed its boot sequence and that the battery warning has cleared.
The panel showed a tamper fault immediately after I replaced the battery — I didn't touch any sensors. What caused it?
A tamper fault triggered during a battery swap almost always means the hub's enclosure or battery compartment cover wasn't fully closed after access. The Home Base Pro monitors its own housing with an internal tamper switch, and even slight misalignment of the cover will hold that fault open. Re-open the compartment, reseat the battery, and press the cover firmly until it clicks flush on all edges. The tamper fault should clear automatically within 30 seconds of the panel detecting the switch is closed.
