This 25.9V, 2600mAh (67.34Wh) lithium-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Rowenta RH9159WO cordless stick vacuum and its variants, including the RH9159WO/2D0R, TY9179WO/2D1, and TY9171WO/2D1. It slots into the same battery bay and connects to the same BMS handshake the vacuum's motor controller expects. When the original pack no longer powers a full clean, this is the direct swap.

  • RH9159 and TY91 series compatibility: These models share the same 25.9V seven-cell Li-ion architecture, identical connector housing, and the same BMS communication protocol — that is why one part number covers all of them. Swapping packs across this lineup does not require firmware changes or adapter brackets.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge-discharge cycles on the RH9159WO motor controller. The BMS negotiated correctly at first contact, the overcurrent threshold held during simulated carpet-load spikes, and voltage under sustained draw stayed above the low-cell cutoff the vacuum uses to trigger shutdown.
  • Dock charging discipline on cordless vacuums: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock between uses. Continuous trickle charging through the dock accelerates capacity fade in Li-ion packs faster than any other single factor for this device class. Charge to full, then remove the vacuum from the dock until the next use.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

The RH9159WO's motor draws significantly more current when airflow is restricted — a partially blocked filter can push draw well above the rated load. The BMS reads this as a voltage sag event and throttles power to the motor before the battery indicator registers as low. The battery is not failing; the motor is working harder than it should. Clean or replace the filter and the full power band returns across the charge cycle.

Motor cuts out completely then recovers after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When sustained suction restriction — a blockage in the brush head or hose — forces the motor to pull beyond the pack's continuous current limit, the BMS opens the discharge circuit to protect the cells. After a few seconds the BMS resets and power returns. Clear the blockage, then check that the filter is seated correctly before restarting.

The replacement battery charged fully but my RH9159WO loses strong suction about halfway through a clean — why?

This is voltage sag under motor load, not a capacity problem. As the pack discharges past roughly 22V, the voltage available to the motor drops and suction output falls with it — this is normal Li-ion behaviour across the discharge curve, not a fault. If the drop feels severe or happens earlier than expected, check that the brush roll is not tangled and the filter is clean, because added mechanical resistance compounds the sag. The Rowenta RH9159WO won't start charging with the replacement battery fitted — what should I check first?

The charger expects a BMS handshake before it begins pushing current into the pack. If the replacement cell's BMS does not respond within the expected window, the charger stays in standby and nothing happens. Start by removing the battery, waiting 30 seconds, and reseating it firmly — a loose connection breaks the handshake. If the charger still shows no activity, measure the battery's resting voltage with a multimeter; anything above 20V means the cells are not deeply discharged and the issue is contact or handshake, not a dead pack.
