Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Rowenta Smart Force Essential / Explorer Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (RS-RT900866)
This 14.4V, 2600mAh (37.44Wh) lithium-ion battery pack fits the Rowenta Smart Force Essential, Explorer 20, Explorer 40, Explorer 60, and over 189 compatible cordless stick vacuum models. It replaces OEM part numbers RS-RT900866 and CMICR1850F5-4S1P. When the original pack loses capacity and suction drops noticeably before the indicator reads low, this is the direct swap.
- Smart Force and Explorer platform fit: These models share a common 14.4V cell configuration, connector type, and BMS handshake protocol. The same pack runs across the Explorer 20 through 60 range because Rowenta kept the voltage rail and communication interface consistent across that generation.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge cycles on the Smart Force Essential dock and monitored BMS response under sustained motor load. The protection circuit handled overcurrent events from simulated filter restrictions without nuisance tripping, and cell balancing held within spec across cycles.
- Dock charge behaviour on this vacuum: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock permanently. The Smart Force Essential dock does not terminate charge intelligently — continuous connection causes trickle charge stress that degrades cell capacity faster than normal cycling. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
This is the most misread symptom on the Smart Force Essential. The indicator measures pack voltage at rest, not under motor load. A degraded cell group sags sharply when the motor draws current — voltage drops below the motor's minimum threshold and suction weakens, while the resting voltage recovers quickly enough to keep the indicator misleadingly high. A new pack with healthy internal resistance holds voltage stable under load. If suction returns to normal immediately after fitting this replacement, the original pack's internal resistance was the cause.
Motor cuts out mid-clean and then restarts after a pause
This pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a motor fault. When the filter is partially blocked, airflow restriction forces the motor to draw more current than its rated operating window. The BMS reads the spike as a fault condition and cuts the output to protect the cells. After the pack cools slightly, the BMS resets and the motor starts again. Before fitting a new battery, check and clean the filter — a blocked filter will trip the same overcurrent protection on a fresh pack within the same cleaning session. Clear the filter first, then refit the battery.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Rowenta Smart Force Essential loses suction well before the battery light flashes low — is the battery failing or is it the motor?
This is almost always the battery. A worn cell group loses voltage under motor load even when resting voltage looks fine, so the indicator stays green while suction weakens mid-clean. The motor itself rarely degrades this way. Fit the replacement pack and run it on a clean filter — if suction holds consistently through the session, the original pack's internal resistance was the cause.
The vacuum cuts out after a minute or two on carpet, then starts again after I leave it for a bit — what's happening?
The BMS is tripping on an overcurrent event, not a battery fault. Heavy carpet increases airflow resistance, and if the filter is even partially blocked, the motor draws above its rated current to compensate. The BMS shuts down output to protect the cells, then resets once temperature drops. Clean the filter thoroughly before assuming the pack is the problem — a blocked filter will trigger the same cutout on a brand-new battery within the same session.
I've had my Rowenta Smart Force Essential on the dock every night for two years and now it barely holds charge — did I damage the cells?
Yes — continuous dock connection is the most common cause of accelerated capacity fade on this vacuum. The Smart Force Essential charger does not cut off cleanly once the pack is full, so cells sit under low-level trickle charge stress night after night. This degrades capacity faster than normal charge cycles. With the replacement pack, charge to full, then pull it off the dock — recharge only when depleted.
