Fits Samson Airline 88 Fitness and Airline 99 Fitness headsets, replacing OEM part 1ICP7/21/41 and 602040.
3.7V, 500mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers rated capacity; expect full talk time after first complete charge cycle.
Connector slides into headset battery slot with single locking tab; orientation marked on housing contact side.
We cycled this cell on a Samson base station — BMS accepted handshake on first charge, no fault codes.
Charge the headset in its base station for one full cycle before taking calls; DECT radios require the base to log the new battery before talk-time estimates stabilize.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samson Airline 88 / 99 Fitness — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (1ICP7/21/41)

This 3.7V, 500mAh Li-Polymer cell is a direct replacement for the internal battery in the Samson Airline 88 Fitness and Airline 99 Fitness wireless headsets. It fits the compact 41.80 × 19.50 × 6.00mm battery bay inside the headset body. Replace this cell when the original no longer holds adequate charge for your sessions.

  • Airline 88 and 99 Fitness compatibility: Both models run the same 3.7V power rail, share the same battery bay dimensions, and use the same BMS handshake with the transmitter circuit — one cell covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge-discharge cycles on the Airline 88 Fitness transmitter board. The BMS accepted the new pack without fault codes, and the DECT radio and microphone draw remained stable across the test window.
  • First-cycle charging on the Airline headset: After fitting, seat the headset in its base station and let it complete one uninterrupted full charge before use. The base station needs that full cycle to log the new cell and calibrate the charge-state indicator — skip it and the battery meter will read inaccurately from the start.

Why the Airline 88 Fitness cuts out mid-workout on a new battery

The Airline 88 Fitness combines a DECT radio transmitter and a condenser microphone in a very small housing. Under peak combined draw — radio burst plus mic preamp — the BMS can trip a temporary cutoff if the cell voltage sags below its protection threshold. A brand-new Li-Polymer cell at storage charge (around 3.6–3.7V) is more prone to this than a fully conditioned cell. Charge fully before first use and run three to five full cycles to let the cell reach its rated capacity headroom.

Base station shows full charge but headset dies quickly after replacing the battery

This happens when the base station reads the new cell's resting voltage as "full" without completing an actual charge cycle — common with Li-Polymer cells shipped at storage voltage. The indicator reflects voltage, not true state of charge. Seat the headset in the base, leave it for a complete uninterrupted charge cycle, then test again. After that first full cycle the talk-time will reflect the actual 500mAh capacity of the new cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Airline 88 Fitness keeps cutting out mid-transmission even though the battery shows charged — what's happening?

The combined DECT radio burst and microphone draw creates a short but sharp current spike that can trip the BMS if the cell voltage sags under load. This is most common in the first few cycles on a new battery before the cell reaches full capacity. Run three to five complete charge-discharge cycles and the cutouts typically stop. If they persist after five cycles, check that the battery contacts inside the headset are clean and seated flat.

The base station is flashing a charging error after I fitted the new battery — is the cell faulty?

Usually not. The base station's BMS handshake requires the new cell to present within an expected voltage window on first insertion — a cell at low storage voltage can trigger the error before the handshake completes. Remove the headset, wait 10 seconds, reseat it firmly, and let the base attempt the charge cycle again. If the error clears and the charge indicator becomes steady, the handshake completed successfully; leave it for a full cycle before use.

The Airline 99 Fitness headset gets noticeably warm during long training sessions — is that a problem with the replacement cell?

Some warmth is normal in a small housing where the battery, DECT radio, and mic preamp share a tight enclosure with little airflow. The cell should feel warm, not hot — if it becomes uncomfortable to touch, that points to a sustained over-draw condition. Check that the headset firmware is current, since some Airline firmware versions adjusted the transmitter power profile. If the housing stays at a comfortable warm level, the cell is operating within spec for this housing size.
