Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony WH-H910N / WH-H910 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (SM-03)

This is a 3.7V, 1000mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Sony WH-H910N and WH-H910 wireless noise-cancelling headphones. It matches the original SM-03 cell specification. Fits directly into the headset housing without modification.

  • WH-H910N and WH-H910 compatibility: Both headsets run the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with identical connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol. One cell covers both models.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the WH-H910N. The BMS accepted the pack without fault codes, and the headset's battery indicator reported correctly after the first full charge.
  • First-cycle charge protocol for WH-H910N: Place the headset on the charging cable or USB-C source immediately after fitting the new cell. The WH-H910N calibrates its battery gauge on the first full charge — skipping this step causes the indicator to misread state of charge for several sessions.

Why the WH-H910N cuts out mid-call on a new or aged battery

The WH-H910N draws from the battery simultaneously for the DECT radio, active noise cancellation, and audio amplifier. Combined peak draw can spike well above the resting average, which stresses a cell that is either new and not yet at full capacity or aged below 80% health. The BMS trips a undervoltage cutoff when cell voltage dips below the protection threshold under that combined load. A fully charged, conditioned cell handles the spike — a partially charged or degraded one does not.

Headset shows full charge but cuts off after short use

This happens when a replacement cell arrives at storage voltage — typically around 3.6–3.7V — and the headset's fuel gauge has not yet completed a calibration cycle. The gauge reads the resting voltage as "full" but the cell has not been charged to its actual 4.2V upper limit. Run one complete charge from flat to full without interruption. After that cycle, the indicator tracks accurately and the headset runs to its rated capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

My WH-H910N keeps cutting out mid-call even though the battery shows as charged — what's happening?

The WH-H910N pulls from the battery for the radio, noise cancellation, and amplifier at the same time, and that combined peak draw can drop cell voltage below the BMS protection threshold for a split second — enough to cut power. This is most common when the cell is not fully charged or has not completed its first conditioning cycle. Charge the headset fully to 4.2V before the next call and run two or three full cycles to let the cell reach rated capacity. If cut-outs continue after five full cycles, the cell voltage under load is likely not recovering — replace the battery.

The battery indicator is showing full but the headset dies much sooner than it should on the first few uses — is the battery faulty?

This is a gauge calibration issue, not a faulty cell. A new Li-Polymer cell ships at storage voltage and the WH-H910N's fuel gauge reads that resting voltage as "full" without having seen a complete charge cycle. Run the headset down to auto-shutoff, then charge it uninterrupted until the indicator shows 100%. Capacity and gauge accuracy improve noticeably over the first three to five full cycles.

The headset gets noticeably warm during long calls — is that a battery problem?

Warmth during extended calls is normal for this headset because the WH-H910N housing is compact and the battery, ANC processor, and radio are all in close proximity. Sustained draw across all three components generates heat that has limited space to dissipate. The SM-03 cell is rated for this thermal environment. If the headset becomes hot to the touch — not just warm — and the audio starts distorting, the BMS thermal limiter is activating; remove the headset, let it cool to room temperature for ten minutes, then resume.
