Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Samsung Galaxy Book 12.0 — 7.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EB-BW720ABA)
This is a 7.7V, 5000mAh (38.5Wh) Li-Polymer battery for the Samsung Galaxy Book 12.0 tablet. It replaces OEM part numbers EB-BW720ABA, EB-BW720ABE, and GH43-04693A across SM-W720, SM-W728, and SM-W727V variants. Swap this in when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge through a normal workday.
- SM-W720 / SM-W728 / SM-W727V coverage: These Galaxy Book 12.0 variants share the same 7.7V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell fits all three without adapter or modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on SM-W720 hardware. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and charge IC communication completed correctly across multiple cycles.
- Fuel gauge reset after installation: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the fuel gauge IC calibration against the new cell and clears the inaccurate percentage readings that typically appear straight after a swap.
Galaxy Book 12.0 shutting down between 15–25% remaining
The Galaxy Book 12.0 drives a large 12-inch display and maintains a persistent WiFi connection — both active simultaneously pull enough current to create a voltage sag at the cell terminals. When cell voltage drops under combined load, the BMS interprets it as a hard low-voltage event and cuts power before the percentage gauge catches up. The OS reports 18% or 20% remaining because the fuel gauge is reading resting voltage, not loaded voltage. After completing the full discharge-then-charge recalibration cycle, the fuel gauge IC re-maps the new cell's discharge curve and the premature shutdowns stop. If it persists beyond two full cycles, confirm the display brightness is not set to maximum during the calibration run.
Fast charging unavailable after battery swap on Galaxy Book 12.0
The Galaxy Book 12.0 uses USB-PD negotiation to enable fast charge — the charger and device handshake on the first accepted charge cycle after a new cell is installed. Before that handshake completes, the charge IC defaults to standard 5V input only. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Plug in the original Samsung charger, let the first full charge cycle complete without interruption, and USB-PD fast charging resumes on the next connection. Confirm you are using a USB-PD capable charger rated at 12V/2.1A or higher.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Galaxy Book 12.0 shows the wrong battery percentage after I put the new battery in — is something wrong with the cell?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. The fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old battery's discharge curve and has not yet mapped the new one. Run the tablet down to automatic shutoff on battery alone, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the device. After one complete cycle the IC recalibrates and the percentage display tracks accurately.
The Galaxy Book 12.0 cuts off suddenly at around 20% after the battery replacement — why is this happening?
Under the combined load of the display and active WiFi, the new cell voltage sags faster than the fuel gauge can report. The BMS reads the loaded terminal voltage, sees it cross the low-voltage cutoff threshold, and shuts the system down even though the gauge still shows 20%. Complete the full discharge-to-shutoff recalibration cycle first — this re-maps the discharge curve and eliminates the early cutoff. If it persists after two full cycles, reduce display brightness during use to lower the combined draw.
The percentage drops faster than expected from 100% on the Galaxy Book 12.0 — is the new battery weaker than spec?
This is fuel gauge drift, not a weak cell. The IC starts reading from 100% but applies the old cell's discharge curve to the new one, so early percentage steps look larger than they are. The actual capacity is correct — the reporting is off. Run one full discharge to shutoff followed by a full uninterrupted charge to 100%, and the IC re-anchors its curve to the new cell's actual behaviour.
