Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung MV900F Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP88B)

This is a 3.7V, 600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Samsung MV900, MV900F, and EC-MV900FBPWUS compact digital cameras. It matches the BP88B form factor and slot dimensions exactly — 43.60 x 35.90 x 5.40mm. Fit the cell and the camera powers on without hardware modification.

  • MV900 and MV900F compatibility: Both camera variants use the same BP88B battery bay, voltage rail, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell covers the full MV900 line.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Samsung OEM charger and via in-body charging. The BMS accepted the cell, balanced charge termination fired correctly at 4.2V, and the battery-remaining indicator tracked accurately across discharge.
  • First-use charge cycle on the MV900: Run the first full charge through the camera body or OEM charger before shooting. The MV900 BMS maps its battery-percentage display to a discharge curve it calibrates on that first charge cycle — skipping it can cause the indicator to jump erratically mid-shoot.

Flash capacitor recharge sagging on the BP88B near end of charge

The MV900F flash circuit pulls a short burst of high current to recharge its capacitor between shots. Near the bottom of the cell's discharge curve — typically below 3.5V — that current draw causes a momentary voltage sag. The camera interprets the sag as a critically low cell and either delays the ready signal or shows a low-battery warning even with charge remaining. This is a BMS threshold response, not a cell fault. Keep the cell above 30% charge during flash-heavy shooting to avoid it.

Battery percentage jumping erratically after fitting the replacement cell

The MV900's fuel gauge maps percentage to voltage thresholds calibrated against the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell with a slightly different internal resistance reads differently at each threshold point, causing the display to skip steps or jump backwards. This is not a faulty cell — it corrects itself after one full charge and discharge cycle. Charge to 100% via the OEM charger, shoot until the camera shuts off on its own, then recharge fully and the indicator will track normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MV900F says "no battery" or "incompatible battery" when I fit the new BP88B — is it broken?

This is the camera's BMS authentication check failing on first contact with a new cell. It does not mean the battery is faulty. Place the battery in the OEM charger or charge it in-body for a full cycle — once the BMS completes a charge handshake, it accepts the cell and the warning clears. If the message persists after a full charge cycle, reseat the battery and power cycle the camera.

Shot count feels lower than expected — the MV900F battery drains faster than the original did when it was new.

Flash recycle, continuous autofocus, optical zoom motor, and the rear LCD all draw current on top of the sensor and processor load — the rated shot count assumes a specific mix of these. In practice, heavy flash use or extended zoom cycling can cut the usable shot count significantly compared to a mostly-static shoot. Check whether flash is set to auto-fire on every frame; switching to manual flash triggers the biggest reduction in per-shot draw. The cell capacity is 600mAh — that ceiling is fixed regardless of shooting style.

The MV900 body gets noticeably warm during sustained video recording — is that the battery or the camera?

Sustained video recording combines sensor readout, image processor, stabilisation, and continuous autofocus into a constant draw that the camera body was not built to dissipate indefinitely. The warmth is the camera chassis conducting heat from the processor, not the cell itself overheating. The BP88B cell temperature stays within normal Li-ion operating range during this use. If the body becomes hot enough to trigger a thermal warning, stop recording and let the camera cool for two minutes before resuming.
