The camera interprets the sag as a critically low cell and either delays the ready signal or shows a low-battery warning even with charge remaining. This is a BMS threshold response, not a cell fault. Keep the cell above 30% charge during flash-heavy shooting to avoid it.

Battery percentage jumping erratically after fitting the replacement cell

The MV900's fuel gauge maps percentage to voltage thresholds calibrated against the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell with a slightly different internal resistance reads differently at each threshold point, causing the display to skip steps or jump backwards. This is not a faulty cell — it corrects itself after one full charge and discharge cycle. Charge to 100% via the OEM charger, shoot until the camera shuts off on its own, then recharge fully and the indicator will track normally.
