Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Samsung SCH-I515 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EB-L1D7IVZ)
This is a 3.7V, 1400mAh Li-ion cell for the Samsung SCH-I515 smartphone. It replaces OEM part EB-L1D7IVZ and fits directly into the SCH-I515 battery bay. Total energy capacity is 5.18Wh.
- SCH-I515 cell compatibility: The SCH-I515 uses a single-cell 3.7V nominal Li-ion pack with a three-pin connector that carries voltage, ground, and a thermistor signal. This replacement matches that pinout and communicates with the phone's charge IC over the same thermal line.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge and discharge cycle on the SCH-I515 board. The BMS accepted charge current without flagging an error, and the phone's charge IC held the cell at 4.2V cutoff without overrun.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% uninterrupted. This gives the fuel gauge IC a clean reference discharge curve against the new cell before resuming normal use.
Why the SCH-I515 shuts down suddenly at 20–30% after a cell replacement
The SCH-I515 uses a coulomb counter-based fuel gauge IC that was calibrated to the discharge curve of the original cell. A new cell with a slightly different internal resistance profile will cause the fuel gauge to misread remaining capacity. When the modem or display draws a high current burst, the actual cell voltage can drop below the BMS cutoff threshold even though the reported percentage looks healthy. The fix is one full discharge-to-shutdown followed by a full charge — this recalibrates the coulomb counter to the new cell's actual curve.
Phone won't power on after the replacement cell sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if the cell voltage drops below approximately 2.5V, the BMS enters a lockout state to prevent damage. The SCH-I515 will show no response — no charging animation, no boot. Connect the phone to a wall charger rated at least 1A and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing any buttons. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell to bring it above the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 2.9V, at which point the phone will resume normal charging and power on.

Frequently Asked Questions
My SCH-I515 shows 25% battery and then just dies — is the new cell bad?
The cell is likely fine. The fuel gauge IC in the SCH-I515 was calibrated to your original cell's discharge curve, and the new cell's internal resistance profile is different enough to throw off the percentage reading. Under a high-current draw — LTE radio, screen at full brightness — the real voltage drops faster than the gauge predicts, triggering the BMS cutoff. Run one full uninterrupted discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption, and the coulomb counter will recalibrate to the new cell.
The phone won't fast charge after I put in the replacement battery — it just slow charges.
This is normal on the first cycle after a cell swap. The charge IC on the SCH-I515 reads the thermistor signal from the new cell and, if the cell impedance looks higher than expected on a cold or uncalibrated cell, it will drop back to standard charge current as a protective measure. Complete one full standard charge cycle to 100%, then disconnect and allow the phone to sit for five minutes before reconnecting. Most users see fast charge accepted on the second cycle once the IC has a thermal baseline for the new cell.
The back of my SCH-I515 feels warm near the battery while it charges — should I be concerned?
Mild warmth during the first few charge cycles on a new cell is expected. A new Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC dissipates a small amount of extra energy as heat while current flows into an uncalibrated cell. If the phone becomes too hot to hold comfortably, disconnect and let it cool to room temperature before resuming. After two or three full charge cycles, internal impedance drops and the warmth should noticeably reduce.
