Fits Samsung SCL810, SCL860, SCL870, SCL901 camcorders replacing OEM part SB-L160, SB-L110A, SB-L320.
7.4V at 1850mAh delivers 13.69Wh — enough capacity for extended video sessions on Samsung's compact camcorder line.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a positive-contact locking tab; no adapter needed.
We ran a full discharge cycle on the bench; the BMS accepted the cell immediately with stable voltage output throughout.
On first install in the SCL810 body, charge the pack fully before extended shooting — Samsung's firmware updates the remaining-capacity display after the initial charge cycle completes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung SCL810 / SCL860 / SCL870 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SB-L160)

This is a 7.4V, 1850mAh Li-ion battery pack replacing the Samsung SB-L160, SB-L110A, and SB-L320. It fits Samsung compact camcorders including the SCL810, SCL860, SCL870, and SCL901, among 26 additional models in the same series. Voltage and form factor match the OEM cell exactly.

  • SCL-series camcorder platform: These camcorders share the same battery bay geometry, 7.4V power rail, and BMS handshake protocol across the SCL810 through SCL901 range. One battery covers the full platform without adapter modifications.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on an SCL-series body. The BMS accepted the pack without fault flags, and charge termination triggered correctly at full capacity.
  • First-use charge cycle on SCL camcorders: Charge the battery inside the OEM charger or directly via the camera body before your first shoot. Some SCL bodies need one complete charge cycle to calibrate the battery-remaining display against the new cell's discharge curve.

SCL810 dead battery indicator appearing on a partially charged replacement cell

The SCL810 maps its battery-remaining indicator against voltage thresholds tuned to the original OEM discharge curve. A new third-party cell discharges at a slightly different rate, which can confuse the indicator into showing empty when the cell still holds charge. This is a calibration gap, not a fault in the battery. Run one full discharge-to-cutoff cycle, then charge completely, and the indicator will track the new cell's curve more accurately.

Camera body rejecting the replacement pack on first install

Some Samsung SCL bodies perform a BMS authentication check when a new cell is inserted for the first time. If the camera shows a no-battery or incompatible warning, remove the pack and reinsert it, then charge via the OEM charger until the indicator reaches full. In most cases, one complete charge cycle through the OEM charger clears the rejection. If the warning persists after a full charge, confirm the cell voltage reads between 7.2V and 8.4V with a multimeter before assuming a fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SCL810 battery percentage keeps jumping around — shows 80% then drops to 20% within a few minutes. Is the replacement cell faulty?

The SCL810's percentage display maps voltage readings to fixed thresholds calibrated for the original OEM cell. A new cell's discharge curve sits slightly outside those thresholds, so the indicator skips between steps rather than stepping down smoothly. This is a display calibration issue, not a cell defect. Run one full discharge until the camera shuts off, then charge fully — the display will track the new curve more consistently after that cycle.

My replacement SB-L160 drains noticeably faster when I'm shooting in continuous autofocus mode compared to single-shot stills. Is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong — continuous AF, optical image stabilisation, and the LCD all draw current simultaneously, and the combined load is significantly higher than single-shot stills. The 1850mAh rating reflects capacity at a steady discharge rate, not peak multi-system draw. In continuous AF mode, current spikes during each focus hunt add up quickly. If drain seems excessive, disable OIS when the camera is mounted on a tripod — that removes one of the largest constant draws.

The SCL810 worked fine after the first charge, but after sitting unused for three weeks the replacement battery is reading critically low. Did the cell self-discharge too fast?

Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 1–3% per week at room temperature, so three weeks of storage should not deplete a healthy pack to critical levels. If the camera shows critically low after that period, the cell likely discharged below 3.0V per cell (6.0V total pack) and the BMS has entered protection mode. Place it in the OEM charger and leave it for a full charge cycle — most chargers can recover a cell from this state as long as voltage has not dropped below the charger's detection threshold of around 2.5V per cell.
