This happens when the replacement cell's resting voltage has dropped below the camcorder's minimum recognition threshold during storage — typically below 6.0V on a 7.4V pack. Place the battery in the OEM charger for 15–20 minutes to raise the cell above the wake threshold, then reinsert.
