Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung VP-X220L / SC-X300L Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SB-P180A)
This is a 3.7V, 1800mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Samsung VP-X220L and SC-X300L series camcorders. It replaces OEM part numbers SB-P180A, SB-P180AB, and SB-180ASL. The cell fits directly into the battery bay without modification.
- VP-X220L and SC-X series compatibility: These camcorders share the same 3.7V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One cell covers the full model range listed, including the SC-X210WL and SC-X205L.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on SC-series hardware. The BMS handshake completed on first insertion, and the protection circuit responded correctly to end-of-discharge cutoff at low voltage.
- First charge cycle on SC and VP series bodies: Charge the new cell fully inside the camcorder body or OEM charger before your first recording session. Samsung's battery indicator on these models maps the remaining percentage to a charge curve calibrated during that first full cycle — skipping it causes the display to read inaccurately from the start.
Why the VP-X220L battery indicator jumps or reads 0% on a new cell
Samsung's VP and SC series camcorders use a voltage-threshold method to estimate remaining charge. A new cell has a slightly different discharge curve profile than a used OEM battery, so the indicator can misread the state of charge on early cycles. The camera maps fixed voltage steps to percentage points, and if the cell hasn't been calibrated through a full charge-discharge cycle in the body, those thresholds shift. Run one complete charge from flat to full inside the camcorder to let the indicator re-anchor to the new cell's curve.
Camcorder not recognising the battery on first install
These Samsung camcorders perform a brief BMS authentication check when a battery is inserted. If the cell ships at a low storage charge, the camera may not complete that handshake and will display no battery or fail to power on. Remove the battery, insert it into the OEM charger or camera body via USB power, and let it charge for at least 15 minutes before reinserting. If the camera still doesn't respond, check that the three contact pins on the battery are clean and fully seating against the body's connector — a charge to at least 3.5V is required for the BMS to respond.

Frequently Asked Questions
The VP-X220L shows the battery icon blinking immediately after I put in the new cell — is it dead already?
It isn't dead. These camcorders require the battery to sit above a minimum voltage threshold before the BMS will complete its handshake and allow the camera to power on normally. A cell shipped at storage charge (typically around 3.6–3.7V) can fall just below the camera's acceptance threshold. Place the battery in an OEM charger or charge via the camera body connected to USB power for 15–20 minutes, then reinsert — the blinking should stop once the cell clears 3.7V and the handshake completes.
The battery percentage on my SC-X300L jumps from 80% straight to 20% without warning — what's causing that?
Samsung's SC and VP series calculate remaining charge by reading voltage at fixed intervals and mapping those readings to percentage thresholds. A replacement cell has a slightly flatter mid-range discharge curve than the original, so the camera's voltage map loses accuracy in the middle section and skips thresholds abruptly. This corrects itself after one full charge-discharge calibration cycle completed inside the camcorder body. Drain the battery fully until the camera shuts itself off, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — the indicator will track more evenly on the next cycle.
My VP-X220L records fine in warm conditions but the battery cuts out much faster when shooting outdoors in cold weather — is something wrong with the cell?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. Li-ion chemistry loses available capacity when the cell temperature drops below roughly 10°C because internal resistance rises, which causes voltage to sag faster under the load of the camera's sensor and processor. The camera's low-voltage cutoff triggers earlier than it would at room temperature, ending the session before the cell is fully discharged. Keep the camcorder inside a jacket pocket between shots to retain heat in the battery, and expect reduced capacity in temperatures below 10°C — capacity returns to normal once the cell warms back up.
