Fits Samuel STL-500 cordless drill, impact driver, and saw — replaces OEM part U80586R01.
20V 4900mAh capacity sustains full torque output on drills and impacts longer than stock packs.
Connector slots vertically into Samuel's 20V bay with positive contact on upper rail — seats flush.
Bench testing showed stable discharge curve under motor inrush; BMS held through repeated trigger-pull spikes at full load.
On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before maximum torque applications — allows the BMS to profile the motor inrush current draw before setting overcurrent protection thresholds.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samuel STL-500 — 20V Li-ion Replacement Battery (U80586R01)

This is a 20V Li-ion replacement battery pack rated at 4900mAh (98Wh) for the Samuel STL-500 series. It fits cordless drills, impact drivers, and other STL-500 platform tools that draw from the 20V rail. The OEM part number U80586R01 maps directly to this pack's connector pinout and BMS communication protocol.

  • STL-500 platform fit: STL-500 series tools share a common 20V battery interface — same terminal layout, same BMS handshake signal, same mechanical latch geometry. Any tool on this platform pulls from the same voltage rail, so one pack covers the full lineup without adapter hardware.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through repeated motor-start inrush cycles on a cordless drill at rated torque. The BMS held the overcurrent threshold correctly across all test pulls — no false trips, and the cell temperature stayed within spec under sustained load.
  • First-cycle load conditioning: On first use, run your STL-500 tool at half load for two cycles before full-torque applications. This lets the BMS sample the motor's inrush current draw and set its overcurrent protection threshold accurately — reducing the chance of nuisance cutoffs on heavy pulls later.

BMS cutoff on STL-500 motor-start inrush surge

When you pull the trigger on a drill or impact driver, the motor draws a current spike that can be three to five times the running current — this happens in the first milliseconds before the rotor builds speed. A fresh pack with a BMS that hasn't yet profiled that specific motor will sometimes trip its overcurrent protection at that moment, cutting the tool dead. The fix is not a hardware fault — it's a calibration gap. Running two half-load cycles first gives the BMS enough data to widen its trip window just enough for the inrush spike without compromising protection at genuinely dangerous overcurrent levels.

Charger blinking red on a new STL-500 pack after storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and most chargers will refuse to begin a charge cycle if the pack voltage has dropped below roughly 12–14V on a 20V nominal pack — this protects against charging a deeply discharged cell at full current. The charger blinks red because it sees the voltage and flags it as a fault rather than a depleted battery. To recover the pack, place it on the charger and wait up to 15 minutes — many chargers run a low-current trickle pre-charge at this stage to bring the cell voltage back above the acceptance threshold. If the charger accepts the pack, it will switch from red to charging mode automatically; if not after 20 minutes, check that the pack terminals read at least 10V with a multimeter before retrying.

Frequently Asked Questions

My STL-500 drill cuts out the instant I pull the trigger hard — why does this keep happening with a new battery?

This is a BMS overcurrent trip triggered by motor-start inrush current, not a faulty pack. The current spike when the motor first turns can hit three to five times the running draw, and a BMS that hasn't profiled your specific motor yet will sometimes interpret that spike as a fault. Run two cycles at half load before going to full torque — this lets the BMS calibrate its trip threshold to your motor's actual inrush signature.

The drill feels weak and bogs down under heavy load even though the battery shows charged — what's causing that?

Voltage sag under high current draw is the most likely cause. When cell internal resistance is elevated — from cold temperatures, shallow-cycle degradation, or worn terminal contacts — the voltage rail drops under load and the tool loses torque before the BMS trips. Check the battery terminal contacts for corrosion or debris and clean them with a dry cloth. If the tool is being used below 5°C, bring the pack to room temperature first — Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply in the cold and will cause sag even in a healthy cell.

After leaving the STL-500 battery unused for a few months, will it hold a full charge again?

Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 1–3% per month, so a multi-month shelf sit will leave the pack low but not permanently damaged unless it dropped below the deep-discharge threshold of around 2.5V per cell. Charge it fully before use — the BMS may run a brief pre-charge trickle phase if the voltage is low, which can make the first charge take longer than usual. Once it completes a full charge cycle, capacity should return to normal; if it doesn't hold charge after two full cycles, check the resting voltage 30 minutes after a full charge — it should read above 20V on the pack terminals.
