Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sanyo 100502SE — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 6V 2000mAh (12Wh) Ni-MH replacement cell for the Sanyo 100502SE emergency lighting unit. It slots into the fitting and restores the unit's ability to power emergency illumination during a mains failure. Dimensions are 52.38 × 43.46 × 27.20mm — verify these against the existing cell before ordering.
- 100502SE fitting compatibility: The 100502SE uses a 6V Ni-MH cell because its charge controller is calibrated to Ni-MH float and charge-termination characteristics. Swapping to a different chemistry will confuse the controller's delta-V cutoff and risk overcharge or a permanent fault state.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle and a load discharge at the rated draw. The cell reached 6V float within the expected window and held voltage under load without tripping early cutoff.
- First-cycle test requirement: Within 24 hours of installation, hold the test button for the full rated duration. This lets the charge controller register the new cell's capacity and confirms the cell accepts load before your next scheduled compliance test.
Charge indicator staying red after new battery installation
A replacement cell shipped from storage can sit at a lower resting voltage than the charge controller's float acceptance window. When the controller sees a voltage outside that window, it flags a fault rather than beginning a normal charge cycle. Leave the fitting powered for 12–24 hours — the controller will trickle the cell up into acceptance range and switch to green once it crosses the float threshold, typically around 6.0–6.3V.
Emergency light failing its duration test after battery replacement
A new Ni-MH cell does not deliver its full rated capacity on the first discharge. The cell needs one complete charge-discharge cycle to reach the 2000mAh figure quoted on the label. If the unit dims or cuts out before the test duration ends, it almost certainly has not had that conditioning cycle. Charge the unit for a full 24 hours, then run the test button again — most fittings will pass on the second attempt.

Frequently Asked Questions
The fitting's fault LED is still on after I installed the new battery and confirmed the connections are solid — what's wrong?
Some 100502SE fittings latch the fault LED in hardware and will not clear it automatically after a battery swap. The controller needs a manual reset — disconnect mains power to the fitting for 30 seconds, then restore it. If the LED clears and returns to charge mode, the installation is good. If it stays on after the power cycle, recheck the cell polarity and connector seating before assuming a controller fault.
The emergency light dims noticeably within a few minutes during a test — the battery is brand new.
A Ni-MH cell fresh out of packaging has not been through a full charge cycle, so it cannot deliver sustained current at rated capacity yet. The cell is charged enough to activate the light but not enough to hold voltage under load for the full test duration. Charge the fitting on mains for 24 hours before running the test — one complete charge cycle is enough for the cell to reach 2000mAh output.
The battery casing looks swollen after a year in the fitting — is that a cell fault or a fitting fault?
Swelling in a Ni-MH cell inside an emergency fitting is almost always overcharge damage from continuous trickle charge at elevated internal temperatures over an extended period. The charge controller in older fittings can lose its ability to terminate correctly as it ages, leaving the cell on a constant charge rather than switching to float. Replace the swollen cell immediately — a vented or bulging Ni-MH cell is a safety risk. Then check the fitting's charge termination: after a full charge cycle, the indicator should switch from red to green; if it stays red and the cell is warm to the touch, the controller itself needs inspection.
