Fits Sena SMH-10S and SMH-20S motorcycle Bluetooth headsets, replaces OEM part YP802542P.
3.7V, 650mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers the power draw needed for simultaneous Bluetooth audio and DECT intercom without voltage sag.
Connector seats into the SMH-10S battery slot with a friction-fit contact — no locking tab, orientation marked on the housing.
We ran the cell through three charge cycles on the Sena dock; BMS accepted the handshake on cycle one with no fault codes.
On first use, charge the headset in the dock for one complete cycle before taking a call — the SMH-10S base needs to register the new cell before talk-time estimates update.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sena SMH-10S / SMH-20S — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (YP802542P)

This is a 3.7V, 650mAh Li-Polymer cell (YP802542P) for the Sena SMH-10S and SMH-20S helmet-mounted Bluetooth headsets. Both models use the same compact cell to power Bluetooth audio, intercom, and music streaming. When the original cell degrades and talk time drops sharply, this is the direct replacement.

  • SMH-10S and SMH-20S compatibility: Both headsets share the same YP802542P cell format, voltage rail, and connector. The BMS in each unit uses the same handshake protocol, so no firmware differences affect fitment between the two models.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the SMH-10S at combined Bluetooth audio and intercom draw. The BMS held the cutoff voltage correctly and the unit reported charge status accurately after a full conditioning cycle.
  • First-use charging on SMH headsets: Seat the headset in the charging cradle and run a complete charge cycle before making a call. The SMH series logs the new cell through the cradle — skipping this step causes the talk-time indicator to read incorrectly for the first several uses.

Why the SMH-10S cuts out mid-call even with a charged battery

The SMH-10S draws current from two simultaneous loads — the Bluetooth radio and the audio amplifier. Under that combined draw, a degraded or storage-voltage cell sags below the BMS cutoff threshold and the unit shuts off. This looks like a software fault but is a voltage issue. A new cell at full charge resolves this, provided the first full cradle cycle has been completed to let the BMS calibrate its discharge curve.

Headset shows full charge but shuts off after a short session

Replacement cells ship at storage voltage — typically 3.6–3.8V — not at full charge. The SMH headset reads this as a charged state and reports a full indicator, but the actual usable capacity is not yet available. The fix is a complete charge cycle in the cradle before first use. After one full cycle, the charge indicator and actual runtime will align. If the problem persists past three full cycles, check cradle contact pins for corrosion.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SMH-10S intercom drops out mid-conversation but the battery indicator still shows bars — what's happening?

The intercom radio and audio amp pull current at the same time, which causes a momentary voltage sag on a worn or storage-voltage cell — the BMS cuts the unit off even though the indicator hasn't caught up. This is a cell condition issue, not a firmware or pairing fault. Fit the new battery and run one complete cradle charge cycle before use. After that full cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the dropout should stop.

The charging cradle light goes green almost immediately after fitting the new battery — is it actually charging?

A new cell shipped at storage voltage can trigger a false full-charge reading because the cradle sees the resting voltage and stops the charge cycle early. Remove the battery, reseat it firmly, and place it back in the cradle for a minimum two-hour charge. If the green light still appears within minutes, clean the cradle contact pins with isopropyl alcohol — oxidised pins cause a high-resistance connection that mimics a full cell to the charger circuit.

Talk time on the new battery seems shorter than expected for the first few rides — is the cell faulty?

Li-Polymer cells in compact headsets like the SMH-10S typically need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before reaching rated capacity. The cell's internal resistance is slightly elevated when new, which limits usable discharge depth. Run three complete cycles — full cradle charge, use until the low-battery warning, then full cradle charge again. By cycle four, capacity should be at or close to the 650mAh rated figure.
