Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Plantronics Savi W8220 / Savi 8220 / B8200 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (213199-01)
This 3.7V, 480mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the internal battery in the Plantronics Savi W8220, Savi 8220, and B8200 wireless DECT headsets. It matches OEM part numbers 213199-01, 203055-01, 203035-01, 208769-02, 208769-01, and 203035-11. Swap it when the original cell no longer sustains a full day of office calls.
- Savi W8220, Savi 8220, and B8200 compatibility: These three models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pin-out, and BMS handshake protocol, so one cell covers all three. The 3.7V nominal rail and 29.50 × 24.10 × 7.60mm footprint are the binding specs — not just the OEM part number.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Savi base station and confirmed the BMS completed its handshake without a charging error. The protection circuit responded correctly to both the combined DECT radio and audio draw and to a full charge-termination sequence.
- First-cycle base station protocol: Seat the headset in the base station and let it run a complete charge cycle before taking a call. The base needs that first full cycle to log the new cell and recalibrate the talk-time indicator — pulling the headset early will leave the estimate inaccurate for days.
Base station not recognising new pack after swap
The Savi base station uses a BMS handshake to confirm a valid cell before starting a charge cycle. If the new battery arrives at storage voltage — typically around 3.6V — the base may display a charging error or show no activity at all. This is not a fault with the battery or the base. Remove the headset, reseat it firmly, and confirm the charge LED changes state within 30 seconds. If the error persists, hold the headset in the cradle for 10 minutes to let the BMS draw enough current to register — then the full charge cycle will start normally.
Talk time shorter than rated on first few charges
Li-Polymer cells fresh from storage do not deliver full capacity on the first cycle. The Savi W8220 combines a continuous DECT radio load with the audio codec, so any capacity shortfall shows up quickly in real use. Capacity builds progressively over three to five full charge-discharge cycles as the cell's electrolyte fully activates. Run three complete cycles — charge to full, use until the low-battery tone sounds, return to base — and rated capacity will stabilise.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Savi W8220 cuts out mid-call even though the base showed a full charge — what's happening?
The DECT radio and audio codec together draw more current than the battery meter accounts for when the cell is cold or newly installed. Under that combined load, a partially conditioned Li-Polymer cell can dip below the BMS cutoff voltage momentarily, dropping the call. This is most common in the first few cycles after a swap, not a sign of a faulty battery. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles and the cutoff behaviour will stop — voltage sag under load drops significantly once the cell is conditioned.
The headset feels noticeably warm during long calls — is that normal for this battery size?
The B8200 and Savi W8220 housings are compact, and the 480mAh Li-Polymer cell sustains a continuous combined load from both the DECT transmitter and the audio circuit. That sustained draw in a small enclosure produces mild warmth — warm to the touch is within normal range. If the headset becomes hot enough to be uncomfortable, the BMS is likely cycling the cell harder than it should, which points to a seating issue with the connector. Remove and reseat the battery, confirm the connector is fully engaged, and the heat level should drop to normal.
The base station charge light goes solid green quickly but the headset cuts off after a short call — what do I check first?
A rapid green light usually means the base read the cell as full, but the cell arrived at storage voltage and the base accepted a surface charge rather than completing a true cycle. The actual state of charge is much lower than the indicator shows. Seat the headset in the base, leave it for a minimum of three hours without interruption, and do not remove it when the light goes green — let the full termination cycle complete. Check the talk-time estimate again after that first proper cycle; it should align with the rated 480mAh capacity at 3.7V.
