Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sennheiser EKI1029 / Receiver EKI 1029 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BA1029)

This is a 2.4V, 300mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the Sennheiser EKI1029 wireless transmitter and receiver system. It replaces OEM part numbers BA1029 and BA 1029. The EKI1029 runs on this cell during live sound, presentation, and broadcast sessions where a stable, rechargeable power source is required.

  • EKI1029 transmitter and receiver compatibility: Both the transmitter and receiver units in the EKI1029 system draw from the same 2.4V Ni-MH cell format. The shared voltage rail and connector spec mean one battery type covers both halves of the wireless link — no separate cells needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the EKI1029 platform. The BMS accepted charge without fault flags, and the battery held within the expected voltage window across the full discharge curve without premature cutoff.
  • Contact cleaning between battery swaps: The EKI1029's battery contacts are small and close-spaced. Residue from Ni-MH cells can build up faster than on lithium systems. Wipe the contacts with a dry cotton swab before fitting a new cell — oxidation on these terminals causes voltage drop that the system reads as a low battery.

Transmitter dropping signal mid-broadcast on a freshly installed battery

The EKI1029 transmitter combines RF output and DSP processing in a single current draw. Under peak load — during active transmission with signal processing engaged — the combined draw can spike above what a partially depleted or poorly seated Ni-MH cell will deliver. The BMS reads this as an under-voltage condition and cuts power momentarily, dropping the RF link. The fix is to confirm the battery is fully charged before the session starts and that it is seated firmly so contact resistance is near zero.

Receiver not syncing after swapping the transmitter battery

When the transmitter loses power during a battery swap, some EKI1029 system configurations drop the RF handshake entirely rather than resuming it on power restore. The receiver holds the last sync state but will not re-establish the link automatically if the transmitter comes back on a different power cycle. Power the receiver off, then back on after the transmitter has fully booted. This forces a fresh sync sequence and restores the wireless link.

Frequently Asked Questions

My EKI1029 battery indicator shows low immediately after fitting a fully charged Ni-MH cell — is the battery faulty?

It is not faulty. The EKI1029's indicator reads open-circuit voltage to estimate charge state, and a freshly charged Ni-MH cell sits at roughly 1.4V per cell — slightly below the voltage profile the indicator was calibrated around if the unit was previously used with alkaline cells. Run the transmitter under normal load for two to three minutes and the indicator will settle to an accurate reading once the battery is under real current draw.

There is audible noise or interference on the receiver signal after I replaced the battery — what causes this?

A disrupted ground path through the battery contacts is the most common cause. If the replacement cell has even slight corrosion or residue on its terminals, the ground reference for the transmitter's RF circuit becomes unstable, which introduces noise into the signal chain. Remove the battery, wipe both the cell terminals and the EKI1029 contact pads with a dry swab, reseat the battery firmly, and recheck the signal.

The EKI1029 battery drains noticeably faster in cold outdoor conditions — is the cell capacity lower than rated?

Ni-MH cells lose usable capacity in cold conditions — at temperatures below 5°C, capacity can drop 20–30% from the rated 300mAh. The chemistry slows electrochemical reaction rate in the cold, which compresses the usable voltage window and triggers earlier cutoff. Keep a spare fully charged cell in an inside jacket pocket during cold-weather sessions and swap it in when the transmitter shows low battery — the warmed cell will deliver its full rated capacity.
