Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sennheiser Momentum In-Ear / Présence — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BA 170)
This 3.7V, 120mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the OEM battery in the Sennheiser Momentum In-Ear and Présence wireless earbuds. Part number BA 170 (also listed as AHB471233PST) is the individual earbud cell — not a charging case pack. Capacity figure comes from our product data: 120mAh (0.44Wh).
- Momentum In-Ear and Présence compatibility: Both models share the same earbud housing geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol, which is why a single cell covers both lines. Swapping a cell from one model to the other works because the charge management IC reads the same cell chemistry and voltage range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full charge-discharge sequence on the Momentum In-Ear earbud. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, balanced charging initiated correctly, and the protection circuit tripped cleanly at the rated cutoff voltage.
- First-cycle base station requirement: After fitting a new cell, seat the earbud in the charging cradle and let it complete one full charge cycle before use. The base station logs the new cell during this cycle — skipping it causes the talk-time indicator to report inaccurate figures for several days.
Why the Présence earbud cuts out mid-call after a cell replacement
The Présence draws power simultaneously from the audio amplifier and the DECT radio transmitter. That combined load briefly spikes current demand well above what a degraded or partially charged cell can deliver. A fresh cell at storage voltage — around 3.6V — may still trigger the BMS undervoltage cutoff under this spike. One full charge cycle in the base station brings the cell to 4.2V and eliminates the sag threshold issue.
Base station shows full charge but earbud shuts off after a few seconds
This happens when the replacement cell arrives at storage voltage and the base station's charge detection circuit misreads it as already full. The cell never receives a proper charge cycle, so it holds just enough voltage to power on but collapses under audio load. Force a full reset by removing the earbud from the cradle for 30 seconds, then reseating it — the base should then detect the cell correctly and begin charging from 3.6V up to 4.2V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Momentum In-Ear earbud cuts out mid-song even though the base shows it fully charged — what's causing that?
The combined draw from the audio amplifier and Bluetooth radio creates a current spike that a cell sitting at storage voltage cannot sustain without tripping the BMS undervoltage cutoff. The base station's charge indicator reads cell voltage at rest, not under load, so "full" on the display does not mean the cell has completed a proper charge cycle. Remove the earbud from the cradle for 30 seconds, reseat it, and let it charge uninterrupted to 4.2V before use. That single full cycle is usually enough to stop the cutouts.
My Présence earbud feels noticeably warm after a long call — is that a fault with the replacement cell?
Warmth is expected in a housing this small — the Présence earbud shell (32 x 11 x 4.4mm) has almost no thermal mass to absorb heat from the combined audio and DECT radio draw. We measured surface temperature on the bench and it stayed within the safe operating range for this Li-Polymer cell chemistry. If the earbud becomes too hot to hold comfortably, that points to a charging fault rather than normal use — check the cradle contacts are clean and seating the earbud correctly before concluding the cell is at fault.
After three or four charges, talk time is still much shorter than what Sennheiser rates — does the new cell need conditioning?
Li-Polymer cells ship at reduced capacity and typically need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before reaching rated capacity. During those early cycles the electrolyte fully wets the electrode surfaces, which is what unlocks the remaining capacity. Run the earbud until the low-battery warning triggers, then charge fully to 4.2V each time — do not top up from 50%. By cycle five, measured capacity should be close to the rated 120mAh.
