Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sennheiser SpeechLine Digital Wireless SL Tablestand DW — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BA 40)
This 3.7V 2200mAh Li-ion cell replaces the BA 40 (OEM 506656) in the Sennheiser SpeechLine Digital Wireless SL Tablestand DW and related SL Boundary DW, SL 133-S DW, and SL 153-S DW transmitters. It powers cordless operation of the tablestand unit, keeping audio capture and DECT transmission running through conferences and presentations. Capacity is 8.14Wh — matched to the original specification.
- SpeechLine SL platform compatibility: The SL Tablestand DW, SL Boundary DW, and SL 133/153-S DW share the BA 40 cell format because they run on the same 3.7V rail with an identical BMS handshake protocol — the base station must authenticate the pack before enabling the DECT radio and logging talk-time data.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the SL Tablestand base station and confirmed the BMS handshake completed without error flags. The charging circuit accepted the pack and the DECT link held stable under sustained audio and radio draw.
- First-cycle base station logging: Seat the new pack in the base station and run a full charge cycle before using the unit in a meeting. The base logs the new cell's capacity data during that first cycle — skipping it causes the talk-time indicator to read inaccurately until the calibration completes.
Base station not recognising the new BA 40 pack
The SpeechLine base station uses a BMS handshake to authenticate inserted cells before enabling charging and DECT pairing. If the pack arrives at storage voltage — typically around 3.6V — the base may not complete that handshake on first insertion, showing no charge activity or flashing an error LED. Remove the pack, reinsert it firmly to ensure full contact across all four terminals, then leave it seated without interruption for a full charge cycle. Once the handshake completes and the charge cycle finishes, the base will display normal status.
Talk time shorter than rated across the first few uses
Fresh Li-ion cells do not deliver their full rated capacity on the first discharge — the electrochemical pathways reach full capacity after several cycles. On a new BA 40, expect noticeably shorter active use time for the first three to five full charge-discharge cycles. Each full cycle through the base station brings capacity closer to the rated 2200mAh. By cycle five, talk time should stabilise at or near the rated figure.

Frequently Asked Questions
The tablestand base is showing a charging error on the new battery — what does that mean?
The SpeechLine base station runs a BMS handshake before it starts charging; if the cell arrives at storage voltage (~3.6V), that handshake can fail on first insertion and trigger an error indicator. Remove the BA 40 pack, check that the four contact pins on the battery are clean and unobstructed, then reseat it firmly. Leave it undisturbed in the base for a complete charge cycle — once the handshake completes the error will clear and normal charging resumes.
The SL Tablestand cuts out mid-presentation even though the battery showed a full charge indicator beforehand.
The SpeechLine unit draws current for both audio capture and the DECT radio simultaneously — under that combined load, a cell sitting at storage voltage can sag below the BMS cutoff threshold even if the base logged it as full. This happens most often when the pack hasn't completed a proper first charge cycle in the base station. Seat the battery, run a full uninterrupted charge cycle before the next use, and let the base recalibrate its capacity reading — the cutout behaviour stops once the cell is properly conditioned and the base has logged accurate capacity data.
The battery feels warm after extended conference calls — is that a fault?
Warmth is normal during sustained use in the SL Tablestand housing. The compact enclosure traps heat from the combined audio processing and DECT radio draw, and the BA 40 cell will run warmer than it would in a device with a larger chassis. What matters is whether it becomes hot to the touch — if it stays warm rather than hot and cools within a few minutes of returning to the base, the cell is behaving correctly. If it stays hot or the base shows a temperature warning, remove the pack and let it cool to room temperature before reseating.
