Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sena 20S / 30K / 50S / SP46 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (YT102540P)
This is a 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-Polymer replacement cell for the Sena 20S, 30K, 50S, and SP46 Bluetooth motorcycle communication headsets. It matches the OEM part number YT102540P and fits the compact battery bay in each of these helmet-mounted units. Install it when the original cell no longer holds charge or the headset powers off unexpectedly mid-ride.
- 20S, 30K, 50S, and SP46 compatibility: These four headsets share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — all four accept the YT102540P cell without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the 20S platform. The BMS completed handshake on first charge, voltage held steady under combined Bluetooth audio and intercom radio draw, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
- Intercom pairing after battery swap: Replacing the cell does not wipe saved intercom pairings on the 20S or 30K — those are stored in firmware flash, not the battery. The 50S and SP46 may prompt a firmware sync via the Sena Device Manager app after a cold-start on a new cell; run that sync before heading out.
Talk time shorter than rated on the first few charges
A fresh Li-Polymer cell ships at storage voltage — roughly 3.7V — not at full capacity. The Sena headset's fuel gauge reads from the BMS, which needs three to five full charge-discharge cycles to calibrate its capacity estimate accurately. On the first cycle, talk time will read low even if the cell is performing correctly. Run the headset until the low-battery warning sounds, then charge fully in the base dock; repeat this two more times and the reported capacity will stabilise near rated.
Headset cutting out mid-call on a new battery
This happens when the Bluetooth radio and intercom audio transmitter draw simultaneously — the combined current spike causes a momentary voltage sag that triggers the BMS undervoltage protection before the cell is actually depleted. It is most common in the first two cycles before the cell has reached full charge acceptance. Charge the headset to 100% in the dock before the next ride rather than starting from a partial charge. If cutouts continue past five cycles, check the dock contacts for oxidation — a poor contact increases impedance and worsens the sag at peak draw.

Frequently Asked Questions
The base station shows a charging error instead of the usual charging light after I fitted the new battery — what's wrong?
The base dock reads a handshake signal from the battery's BMS before it begins charging. If the cell arrived at deep storage voltage, the BMS may not respond fast enough for the dock to recognise it on the first attempt. Remove the battery, reseat it firmly so the contacts are flush, then place the headset back in the dock. If the error clears and charging begins within 60 seconds, the handshake completed — leave it on a full uninterrupted charge cycle before use.
My headset gets noticeably warm during long group intercom sessions — is that normal with this battery?
Sustained warmth is expected when the Bluetooth mesh and intercom radio run together for extended periods inside the small headset housing — there is no active cooling and the combined draw is continuous. The cell and BMS are rated for this load, but if the housing becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, the BMS thermal protection may trip and shut the headset down. Keep the headset out of direct sun on the helmet and allow a 10-minute rest between sessions longer than 90 minutes of continuous intercom use.
The dock shows a full charge but the headset cuts off after a short time on the road — how do I fix this?
This is a fuel-gauge calibration problem, not a faulty cell. The BMS shipped at storage voltage and the dock stopped charging as soon as the cell hit the target voltage ceiling — but the capacity estimate is still based on pre-calibration data. Drain the headset fully until the low-battery warning sounds, then charge it uninterrupted in the dock to 100%. After two to three full cycles completed this way, the BMS estimate will reflect actual cell capacity and the early cutoff will stop.
