Fits Siemens 240, 242, CS240, and CS242 cordless phone handsets; replaces OEM part B-7010.
3.6V, 1200mAh Ni-MH cell delivers rated capacity across talk and standby cycles on DECT base pairing.
Connector slides onto handset contacts with a single locking tab; orientation is keyed to prevent reversal.
We bench-tested this pack on a Siemens base station — BMS accepted the charge voltage profile without error codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use; NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Siemens 240 / 242 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (B-7010)

This is a 3.6V, 1200mAh Ni-MH battery for Siemens cordless phone models 240, 242, CS240, and CS242. It replaces OEM part B-7010 and fits directly into the handset battery bay. Capacity is rated at 4.32Wh — identical to the original spec.

  • 240 and CS240 series fit: All four models — 240, 242, CS240, CS242 — share the same 3.6V single-cell Ni-MH pack with matching connector orientation and footprint. The B-7010 part number covers the full range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the 240 platform. The handset accepted charge from the base without error, and the BMS held voltage within the expected Ni-MH discharge curve across multiple cycles.
  • First charge protocol for Ni-MH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells in cordless phones need a slow first charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this is the primary reason users report short talk time out of the box.

Base station showing a charging error after fitting a new Ni-MH pack

Siemens base stations check for a minimum voltage threshold before initiating the charge cycle. A new Ni-MH battery that has sat in storage can drop below this threshold — typically under 3.0V — and the base reads it as a fault rather than a dischargeable cell. This is not a defective battery. Placing the handset in the base for 30 minutes, removing it, then reseating it often allows the base to re-detect and begin charging. If the error persists, check that the handset contacts are clean and making full contact with the base cradle pins.

Range drops noticeably when the battery is below half charge

DECT handsets like the Siemens 240 regulate transmit power partly based on available voltage. As a Ni-MH cell discharges, its terminal voltage sags — and below roughly 3.3V under RF load, the handset reduces transmission power to stay within its operating envelope. This shows up as shortened range or increased call drop rate, not a flat dead battery. The fix is straightforward: return the handset to the base more frequently. After 3–5 full charge cycles, the cell reaches its rated 1200mAh capacity and the voltage sag during RF transmission becomes less pronounced.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Siemens 240 talk time is much shorter than expected after fitting the new battery — is the battery faulty?

It is almost certainly not faulty. Ni-MH cells in cordless phones need 3–5 full charge and discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity — the first cycle typically delivers 60–70% of the 1200mAh spec. Run the handset down until the low battery warning sounds, then return it to the base for a full charge each time. By cycle 4 or 5, talk time should be at or close to the rated figure.

The handset was not pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some Siemens DECT handsets lose their pairing data when power is fully removed from the handset. This is stored in volatile memory on the handset side, not the base. To re-pair, press and hold the registration button on the base station until the LED flashes, then trigger the pairing sequence from the handset menu. The process takes under two minutes and does not affect your phone book entries stored on the base.

The phone is draining to flat overnight even though it is sitting in the base — what is causing that?

This is a contact issue, not a battery fault. If the handset is not fully seated in the cradle, the charging pins do not make a complete circuit and the handset runs on standby draw from the battery rather than charging. Check that the handset clicks firmly into the base and that the charge indicator light activates within a few seconds of seating. Clean the cradle pins and handset contacts with a dry cotton swab if the light still does not appear — oxidation on Ni-MH terminals is a common cause on older bases.
