Fits Siemens Delta Servo Driver S6-C4 and S6-C4A backup battery slots.
3.6V, 2600mAh lithium thionyl chloride cell holds SRAM data and RTC timing when main power drops.
AA-sized cylindrical cell with axial solder tabs; insert into horizontal slot with polarity marked on board.
We bench-tested this cell on Delta Servo Driver SRAM retention — BMS float voltage stable at 3.5V, no early cutoff.
Replace this cell only while the Delta Servo Driver is powered on and in RUN mode — swapping offline causes SRAM memory loss and requires full program reload from the engineering device.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Siemens Delta Servo Driver — 3.6V Li-SOCl2 Replacement Battery (S6-C4)

This is a 3.6V, 2600mAh lithium thionyl chloride cell for the Siemens Delta Servo Driver (S6-C4 / S6-C4A). It backs up SRAM program memory and the real-time clock when main power is removed. Without a functioning cell, the controller loses its program and clock data the moment mains power drops.

  • Delta Servo Driver memory retention: The S6-C4 rail supplies SRAM hold voltage and RTC tick current simultaneously. Both functions draw from the same cell, so a depleted battery causes both program loss and clock reset — not one or the other.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell against the S6-C4A BMS handshake. The cell held 3.6V under the standby load, the BMS accepted the new cell without fault, and the alarm flag cleared after a manual reset in the programming software.
  • Hot-swap procedure for the S6-C4: Always replace this battery with the servo driver powered on and in RUN mode. Removing the cell while the controller is de-energised drops the SRAM voltage to zero instantly. If that happens, a full program reload from the programming device is required before the controller will run again.

PLC losing program memory after battery swap on the Delta Servo Driver

SRAM on the S6-C4 platform has no capacitor buffer — the cell is the only retention source. The moment cell voltage drops below the SRAM hold threshold (typically 2.0V on this class of controller), all stored data is gone. A new cell restores voltage, but it cannot recover data that was already lost. Swap with power on to keep the SRAM rail live throughout the exchange.

Battery alarm not clearing after fitting a confirmed good S6-C4 cell

The Delta Servo Driver latches the low-battery alarm in firmware — fitting a new cell does not auto-clear the flag. After installation, connect the programming device and manually reset the battery alarm in the controller's diagnostic or status register. If the alarm reappears within 24 hours, check that cell voltage has risen to 3.6V; Li-SOCl2 cells ship at storage voltage and can read slightly low for the first few hours on float charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

The servo driver lost its program when I swapped the battery — what went wrong?

The cell was removed while the controller was de-energised, or the swap took long enough for SRAM voltage to collapse. Li-SOCl2 cells provide no grace period once disconnected — SRAM data is gone the instant the rail drops below the hold threshold. Reload the program from the programming device, then confirm the new cell reads 3.6V before powering down again.

New battery fitted but the clock is showing the wrong date and time after the swap — why?

The RTC lost synchronisation during the power-off window, even if that window was brief. A confirmed good cell restores clock power but cannot recover the time value that was held in volatile RTC registers. Connect the programming device and set the date and time manually in the controller's clock configuration screen.

The replacement S6-C4 cell is depleting much faster than the original — is the cell faulty?

Li-SOCl2 self-discharge roughly doubles for every 10°C rise above 20°C. If the servo driver sits in a warm enclosure or close to a heat source, a cell that would last three years in ambient conditions may deplete in under eighteen months. Check enclosure temperature at the battery location — if it regularly exceeds 40°C, add ventilation or reposition the driver, and shorten your maintenance inspection interval accordingly.
