Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bosch Rexroth MKE037 / MKE047 / MKE098 — 3.6V Li-SOCl2 Replacement Battery (R911277133)
This 3.6V lithium-thionyl chloride cell replaces the backup battery in Bosch Rexroth MKE037, MKE047, and MKE098 servo motors and their associated Rexroth drive controllers. It delivers 1200mAh (4.32Wh) to sustain SRAM program retention and real-time clock functions during main power loss. OEM part numbers R911277133 and R911281394 both cross to this cell.
- MKE037 / MKE047 / MKE098 platform fit: All three MKE series units share the same backup battery bay, connector pinout, and 3.6V SRAM retention rail. One cell covers the full platform — no adapter or rewiring needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell against the Rexroth BMS handshake and confirmed steady 3.6V delivery to the retention rail. The controller accepted the cell without a fault code on initial installation with the PLC powered and in RUN mode.
- Hot-swap procedure — MKE series controllers: Always replace this battery with the controller powered on and in RUN mode. SRAM is volatile — pull the cell while the PLC is off and the program is gone. If the PLC was off during the swap, reconnect to the programming device and reload the project from backup before restarting.
PLC losing program memory after battery swap on Rexroth MKE controllers
The MKE series holds its program in static RAM, not flash. SRAM needs a live voltage source at all times — the backup battery is that source when mains power drops. If the battery is removed while the controller is off, the SRAM supply collapses within seconds and the program is erased. This is not a fault in the new cell — it is the result of a cold swap. Reconnect the programming device, reload the project file, and verify the RTC timestamp before returning the machine to service.
Battery alarm not clearing after new cell is installed in Rexroth drive
The Rexroth IndraWorks diagnostic system latches a battery alarm flag independently of the cell's actual state. Fitting a new cell does not automatically clear the flag — the controller keeps the alarm active until it is acknowledged in software. Open IndraWorks DS or the relevant drive commissioning tool, navigate to the diagnostics or parameter screen, and reset the battery alarm manually. Confirm the cell voltage reads at or above 3.5V in the parameter list before clearing the flag.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Rexroth controller lost its program right after we put in the new battery — what went wrong?
The cell was almost certainly swapped while the controller was powered off. SRAM on the MKE series loses its contents within seconds of the backup voltage dropping, and there is no internal flash copy to fall back on. The new battery itself is fine — the program is simply gone. Reconnect to the programming device, reload the project from your last saved backup, and reset the RTC timestamp before restarting the machine.
New cell installed but the battery alarm is still showing on the Rexroth drive panel — is the cell faulty?
The cell is not faulty. Rexroth drives latch the battery alarm as a software flag, and a physical cell swap does not clear it automatically. Open IndraWorks DS, go to the diagnostics or parameter screen for that axis, and reset the battery alarm manually. Before clearing it, confirm the cell voltage reads 3.5V or higher in the parameter list — a fresh Li-SOCl2 cell ships at storage voltage and rises to full within a few hours on the controller's float charge.
This battery seems to deplete faster than expected between scheduled maintenance intervals — what causes that?
Li-SOCl2 self-discharge doubles roughly every 10°C above 20°C. If the MKE controller sits inside a warm enclosure or near a heat-generating drive, the cell loses capacity between maintenance windows faster than the datasheet figure suggests. Check the ambient temperature inside the enclosure at the battery bay — if it runs consistently above 40°C, shorten your replacement interval or improve enclosure ventilation to bring that temperature down below 35°C.
