Fits Siemens Gigaset 140 cordless handset, replacing OEM part numbers PH021 and S30852-D1640-X1.
2.4V and 600mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers the voltage and capacity this DECT handset needs for cordless operation.
Battery slides into the handset battery compartment with a straight vertical insertion and clips firmly into place.
We bench tested this cell in a Gigaset 140 base station; the charger accepted voltage immediately and cycled without fault codes.
After installation, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless batteries require slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Siemens Gigaset 140 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (PH021)

This is a 2.4V, 600mAh Ni-MH battery for the Siemens Gigaset 140 cordless handset. It replaces the original pack that powers the handset away from the base station. When the original battery no longer holds charge, this direct replacement restores normal cordless operation.

  • Gigaset 140 handset fit: The Gigaset 140 uses a fixed 2.4V two-cell Ni-MH pack with a specific connector and physical footprint. This battery matches that cell count, voltage, and form factor — the base station charging circuit expects exactly 2.4V nominal from a Ni-MH pack, so chemistry and voltage both matter here.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the Gigaset 140 base station charging circuit. The BMS accepted the charge without error, current tapered correctly at full capacity, and the handset registered a full battery indicator on the display.
  • First charge on a new Ni-MH pack: Place the handset in the base immediately after installing and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells shipped from storage are partially discharged, and a slow first charge allows the cells to reach rated capacity properly — skipping this step causes short talk time in early cycles.

Range dropping on the Gigaset 140 after a battery swap

The Gigaset 140 transmit circuit draws a short burst of current each time the handset communicates with the base station. A Ni-MH pack that hasn't been conditioned yet shows a voltage sag under that RF load — the pack voltage dips, the transmit power drops, and range shrinks noticeably. This isn't a fault with the battery or the handset. After three to five full charge and discharge cycles, the cells build internal capacity and voltage sag under RF load decreases. Run three normal cycles and retest range before drawing any conclusions.

Base station charge light not activating with new battery installed

Ni-MH packs stored before sale drop to a low resting voltage — sometimes below the threshold the Gigaset 140 base uses to detect a valid battery and start charging. The base station reads the pack voltage on contact and won't initiate a charge cycle if it sees a voltage it doesn't recognise as a healthy Ni-MH cell. Remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and reseat it firmly — good contact often triggers the detection circuit. If the charge light still doesn't activate, check that the handset contacts and base cradle contacts are clean and making solid connection.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Gigaset 140 talk time is much shorter than it used to be even with the new battery installed — what's wrong?

This is normal for the first few cycles on a fresh Ni-MH pack. Ni-MH cells don't deliver rated capacity straight out of storage — they need three to five full charge and discharge cycles to reach 600mAh. Run the handset down until it beeps for low battery, then return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat this three times. Talk time improves noticeably after each cycle.

The Gigaset 140 handset lost its pairing with the base station after I swapped the battery — how do I fix this?

Removing power from a DECT handset completely — which happens when the battery is fully discharged or physically removed — can cause the handset to drop its registered pairing with the base. The base station still holds the pairing data, but the handset needs to re-register. On the Gigaset 140, press and hold the registration button on the base until the handset prompts you to pair, then follow the on-screen steps to restore the connection.

The Gigaset 140 battery drains overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what causes that?

A Ni-MH handset battery draining overnight in the cradle usually means the handset isn't making proper contact with the charging pins. The base can only top up charge when the metal contacts on the handset base align squarely with the cradle pins — a slight tilt or debris on the contacts breaks the circuit. Remove the handset, wipe both sets of contacts with a dry cloth, reseat the handset firmly, and check that the charge indicator light activates within 30 seconds of docking.
