Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Siemens VK20C01 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (3-VR1.8CS VC1)
This is a 3.6V 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Siemens VK20C01 cordless handheld vacuum cleaner. It replaces OEM part 3-VR1.8CS VC1 and restores suction power to vacuums where the original cell has degraded or failed. Dimensions are 64.80 x 43.00 x 31.30mm — confirm these against your existing cell before ordering.
- VK20C01 fit: The VK20C01 runs a single 3.6V Ni-MH cell at this exact form factor. The connector and cell housing are sized to this replacement — any deviation in cell dimensions will prevent correct seating in the vacuum chassis.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and load discharge on the VK20C01 motor circuit. The cell held stable voltage under sustained motor draw and the BMS tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff without false positives at mid-discharge.
- Dock charging behaviour on the VK20C01: Do not leave the VK20C01 sitting on its charging dock after the cell reaches full charge. Continuous trickle current from the dock accelerates Ni-MH capacity fade. Charge fully, then remove from the dock and store the vacuum off-charge.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reads low on the VK20C01
Ni-MH cells in handheld vacuums show voltage sag under motor load well before the cell is technically depleted. On the VK20C01, a partially blocked filter increases motor draw, which amplifies this sag and makes suction fall off earlier in the charge cycle. The battery indicator reads voltage at rest — not under load — so it can still show mid-charge while suction is already weak. Clear the filter and check that airflow is unrestricted before concluding the cell is at fault.
VK20C01 motor cuts out during use and then recovers after a pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead cell. When suction is restricted — blocked nozzle, clogged filter, or hair wrap on the motor inlet — the motor draws more current than the BMS threshold allows, and the circuit interrupts to protect the cell. After a short pause, voltage recovers and the vacuum restarts. Fix the restriction first. If cut-outs continue with clear airflow, measure resting cell voltage — a healthy Ni-MH cell should read above 3.2V at rest after a full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
My VK20C01 suction gets noticeably weaker halfway through a clean even though the battery light isn't flashing low — is the new cell defective?
It is not defective. Ni-MH cells under motor load show a voltage dip that reduces suction power before the cell is fully discharged — the indicator reads resting voltage, not load voltage, so it lags behind real performance. A restricted filter makes this worse by forcing the motor to draw more current than rated, accelerating the sag. Clear the filter completely and run the vacuum again — if suction holds steady for longer, the filter was the cause, not the cell.
The VK20C01 cuts out after about 30 seconds of heavy use on carpet, then starts again if I wait — what's happening?
The BMS is tripping on overcurrent, not a cell failure. Heavy carpet load or a partially blocked inlet pushes motor current above the BMS cutoff threshold, and the circuit interrupts to protect the Ni-MH cell. After a short rest, voltage recovers and the vacuum restarts. Remove the nozzle, clear any blockage or filter restriction, and test again — if cut-outs stop, the BMS was reacting correctly to restricted airflow, not a fault with the replacement cell.
My replacement battery faded noticeably after only a few weeks — I kept the vacuum on the dock between uses. Could the dock have caused this?
Yes — this is a known failure mode for Ni-MH cells in cordless vacuums. The VK20C01 dock delivers a continuous trickle charge, and Ni-MH chemistry degrades significantly faster under constant low-level charge current compared to cells that are charged and then stored off-power. Charge the cell to full, remove the vacuum from the dock, and only return it to charge when the cell is depleted. That single change will slow capacity fade on the replacement cell.
