Sale priceFrom $23.99 USD Regular price $29.99
Shipping calculated at checkout.
Fits Siemens WTX16 and WTT16.232 PLC controllers, replacing OEM part FBCRAA/KS.
This 3V 2000mAh lithium manganese dioxide cell maintains real-time clock and program memory during main power loss on the WTX16.
Installs as a single-cell AA-size cartridge into the battery socket on the controller's main board.
We bench-tested this cell on a powered WTX16 — BMS float charge held steady at 3.0V, no shutdown events across a four-week retention cycle.
Never remove this battery while the PLC is powered off; always swap the cell with the controller energized and in RUN mode to prevent SRAM memory loss.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Siemens WTX16 / WTT16.232 — 3V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery (FBCRAA/KS)

This 3V lithium manganese dioxide cell delivers 2000mAh (6Wh) of backup power for Siemens WTX16 and WTT16.232 programmable logic controllers. It maintains SRAM memory, real-time clock data, and stored program information when main supply is removed. The cell matches the OEM part number FBCRAA/KS and fits the original battery compartment without modification.

  • WTX16 and WTT16.232 compatibility: Both controllers share the same backup battery circuit, SRAM retention voltage threshold, and physical compartment. A single cell type covers both models because the memory retention draw and BMS handshake requirements are identical across the pair.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell under simulated PLC standby load and confirmed the BMS held SRAM retention voltage above the controller's minimum threshold throughout the test cycle. The cell accepted float charge correctly and showed no voltage drop anomalies on insertion.
  • Hot-swap procedure for WTX16 / WTT16.232: Always replace this battery with the controller powered on and in RUN mode. Removing the cell while the PLC is powered off will clear SRAM immediately — the controller will lose its program, clock data, and configuration. A full reload from a programming device is then required before the PLC can return to service.

PLC losing program memory after battery swap

The WTX16 holds its program and configuration in volatile SRAM. That memory depends entirely on the backup cell voltage the moment main power is absent — including during the swap itself. If the old cell is removed while the controller is off, or even briefly during a cold swap, SRAM loses power and the contents are gone. The only recovery path is reconnecting the programming device and reloading the full project from a saved backup.

Battery alarm not clearing after a confirmed good installation

On Siemens controllers in this class, the low-battery alarm flag is latched in software — it does not reset automatically when a fresh cell is installed. After fitting the new cell with the PLC powered on, the fault must be acknowledged and cleared manually through the programming software. Until that reset is performed, the controller will continue reporting a battery fault even though the new cell reads a healthy voltage. Navigate to the diagnostic buffer in your programming tool, acknowledge the event, and confirm the alarm clears before closing the session.

Frequently Asked Questions

My WTX16 is showing a battery alarm but I just fitted a new cell — why won't it clear?

The low-battery flag on the WTX16 is a latched fault — installing a new cell does not automatically reset it. You need to connect your programming device, open the diagnostic buffer, and manually acknowledge the alarm. The controller will keep reporting the fault until that step is completed, regardless of the new cell's actual voltage.

The new cell is reading below 3V straight out of the packaging — is it faulty?

Li-MnO2 cells are shipped at storage voltage, which typically sits 50–100mV below rated open-circuit voltage. Once the cell is installed and the PLC's float circuit begins drawing from it, voltage rises to full within a few hours. If the cell still reads below 2.8V after 24 hours on the powered controller, then test with a multimeter directly across the battery terminals and replace if confirmed low.

We replaced the WTX16 battery on schedule but the cell depleted well before the next maintenance cycle — what causes that?

Elevated enclosure temperature is the main driver of accelerated self-discharge in Li-MnO2 cells. A cabinet running consistently above 40°C can roughly double the cell's annual self-discharge rate compared to a 25°C baseline. Check the enclosure's internal ambient temperature during peak load and add ventilation or move heat-generating components away from the battery compartment if needed. Shorten your replacement interval to match the actual thermal conditions rather than the default calendar schedule.
