Fits Sierra Wireless AirCard 875U, AirCard 595U, AirCard 880U, AirCard 881, and AirCard 882 — replaces OEM battery part number 1201324.
3.2V Li-ion at 380mAh capacity delivers 1.22Wh total energy to power the hotspot through a full portable session without dips in cellular signal strength.
Connector uses the proprietary Sierra Wireless slot with positive and negative contacts flush-mounted; locking tab engages from the side without resistance.
We bench-tested this cell in the AirCard 875U with simultaneous Wi-Fi broadcast and cellular modem active — BMS showed stable voltage under dual-load draw with no early cutoff.
When the hotspot sits idle for more than two weeks without use, the low-power circuitry may drain the cell below boot threshold — power the device via USB cable monthly to keep voltage above the startup floor.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sierra Wireless AirCard 875U / 880U Series — 3.2V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1201324)

This is a 3.2V, 380mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Sierra Wireless AirCard 875U, 595U, 880U, and 881 mobile hotspot devices. It slots into the same bay as the original cell and restores portable operation when the factory battery has degraded. Capacity figure is 380mAh — use that number when comparing against your current cell's label.

  • AirCard 875U / 595U / 880U / 881 compatibility: These AirCard models share the same 3.2V cell format and connector pinout, which is why a single part number — 1201324 — covers the full range. The BMS handshake voltage and charge termination point are identical across the group.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on an AirCard 880U. The BMS engaged correctly at both the low-voltage cutoff and the charge termination threshold, with no false protection trips under combined cellular modem and Wi-Fi radio load.
  • Signal environment matters for this cell: When your hotspot is operating in a weak signal area, the cellular radio pushes to maximum transmit power. That draw is significantly higher than in good-signal conditions and accelerates heat buildup in a small enclosure. Keep the device in an open, ventilated spot — not a pocket or bag — during extended sessions in low-signal zones.

Why the AirCard 875U drops Wi-Fi clients mid-session on a new battery

At maximum client connections, the AirCard runs both the cellular modem and the Wi-Fi radio at full power simultaneously. This combined draw can pull the cell voltage down faster than the BMS anticipates on a cold or partially conditioned battery. When voltage sags below the BMS trip threshold — typically around 2.7V under load — the device cuts power to protect the cell, dropping all connected clients instantly. Running two to three charge-discharge cycles before using the hotspot under full load allows the BMS to calibrate its internal state-of-charge model and reduces the likelihood of a premature trip.

AirCard won't power on after sitting unused for several weeks

A 380mAh Li-ion cell at this voltage tier self-discharges at roughly 2–3% per month under normal storage conditions, but internal leakage currents in the hotspot's standby circuitry can drain the cell faster than that. If the cell drops below approximately 2.5V, the BMS locks out power delivery entirely and the device shows no response to the power button. To recover, connect the hotspot to a USB power source and leave it on charge for at least 20–30 minutes before attempting to boot — the charger's pre-charge current brings the cell back above the BMS unlock threshold, after which normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AirCard 875U keeps dropping everyone off Wi-Fi for a few seconds, then reconnects — what's causing that?

This is a voltage sag trip. When the cellular modem and Wi-Fi radio both run at full output — most likely because signal strength is poor and multiple devices are connected — the combined current draw briefly pulls the cell below the BMS cutoff, cutting power and rebooting the radio stack. Move the hotspot closer to a window to improve signal, which reduces transmit power and the associated current spike. If drop-outs persist, check that the battery contacts are clean and fully seated — a partial connection increases effective internal resistance and lowers the sag threshold.

The battery drains noticeably faster in some locations than others — is the battery faulty?

The battery is behaving correctly. In areas with weak cellular signal, the modem increases transmit power to maintain the connection, which is the single largest current draw in the device. A full-signal environment and a weak-signal environment can produce meaningfully different discharge rates from the same 380mAh cell — this is normal radio behaviour, not a defective battery. If drain seems excessive even in good signal conditions with only one or two devices connected, check whether the hotspot firmware has a pending update, as older firmware versions sometimes hold the modem in a higher power state unnecessarily.

After the hotspot was stored for a couple of months, it won't turn on even when plugged in — did the new battery arrive dead?

Likely not dead — just deeply discharged from storage. The BMS on this cell locks out charging when voltage drops below roughly 2.5V, so the hotspot appears unresponsive even on charge. Leave it connected to a USB power source rated at least 1A for 30 minutes without pressing the power button — this allows the charger's pre-charge trickle current to bring the cell above the unlock voltage. After that initial window, the LED charge indicator should activate and normal charging will proceed.
