Fits Simon RWA 272 remote transmitter and replaces OEM part PA00035.
12V 1500mAh delivers 18Wh — maintains full wireless range on arm/disarm cycles without mid-session dropout.
Connector slides straight into battery compartment with locking tab; orientation marked on housing.
We bench-tested this Ni-MH cell in a Simon RWA 272 charger cradle — BMS accepted full charge within two cycles, no fault codes.
Do not run a zone diagnostic test within 24 hours of installation; the panel's low-battery sensor needs float-charge stabilization before accuracy.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Simon RWA 272 / AOV RZ Series — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (PA00035)

This is a 12V 1500mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the Simon RWA 272 wireless alarm remote transmitter and the AOV RZ 040, RZ 140, and RZ 272 series. It replaces OEM part PA00035 (also cross-references as 6711). The battery powers the portable handheld unit used to arm and disarm the Simon security system wirelessly.

  • RWA 272 and AOV RZ platform fit: These remotes share the same 12V Ni-MH cell format, connector pinout, and charge management circuit. One battery covers all listed models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Simon RWA 272 transmitter's charge circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without fault flags. Charge termination occurred cleanly at rated voltage with no overcharge trip.
  • Float charge before first zone test: Do not run a zone or siren test immediately after fitting this battery. Allow 24–48 hours on the charger dock so the cell reaches full float charge. Testing too early can trigger a false low-battery report from the panel's charge monitor.

Alarm panel reporting low battery within hours of fitting a new cell

Simon alarm panels monitor the remote's charge state through the dock circuit. A fresh Ni-MH cell typically sits below the panel's acceptable voltage threshold until it has completed at least one full charge cycle. The panel will clear the low-battery flag automatically once the cell stabilises at float voltage — usually within 24 to 48 hours. No reset or re-programming is needed; leave the remote on charge and the warning will clear on its own.

Remote transmitter not arming or disarming the system after battery swap

If the remote appears powered but the panel does not respond to arm or disarm commands, the issue is usually insufficient charge rather than a pairing fault. A Ni-MH cell at low state of charge can power the transmitter's display without producing the voltage needed to drive the RF output at full power. Charge the remote fully — the cell should read at least 13.2V at the terminals under no load before testing. If commands still fail after a full charge cycle, re-sync the remote to the panel following the Simon RWA 272 pairing procedure in the installer manual.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Simon alarm panel still shows a low battery warning 2 hours after I put in the new PA00035 battery — is the cell faulty?

It is not faulty. The Simon panel's charge monitor checks the remote cell's voltage against a float threshold, and a fresh Ni-MH cell will not reach that threshold until it has completed a full charge cycle on the dock. Leave the remote charging for 24–48 hours and the panel will clear the warning automatically once the cell stabilises. No manual reset is required.

The siren did not sound during my test after replacing the battery in the RWA 272 remote — did I fit the wrong cell?

The cell fit is correct, but the siren trigger relies on the remote transmitting a full-strength RF signal, which requires the Ni-MH cell to be at float charge. On a partially charged cell, the transmitter may not produce enough output to register a valid command at the panel. Charge the remote fully for 48 hours before running a siren test. If the siren still does not trigger, confirm the remote is paired to the panel and check the panel event log for a "no signal received" entry.

The Simon alarm lost its programming during a mains power cut — the new backup battery was installed three days ago. Why did it not hold?

A Ni-MH cell that has not completed a conditioning cycle may not yet be accepted by the panel's backup circuit, leaving the panel effectively unprotected during a power cut. The panel requires the cell to reach full float charge and hold it for at least 48 hours before the backup circuit hands off to it during a mains failure. Reinstall the cell, leave the system on mains power for a full 48-hour conditioning period, then cut mains briefly to confirm the panel holds its programming — it should stay live down to approximately 10.8V on the battery terminals.
