Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

LUPUS XT1 / XT2 Series — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (12188)

This 7.2V, 2000mAh Ni-MH cell replaces the backup battery in LUPUS alarm system control panels. It fits the XT1, XT1 12000, XT2 12025, and XT2 Plus panels. Capacity is 14.4Wh — matched to the original specification in the product data.

  • XT1 and XT2 panel compatibility: These panels share the same backup battery bay, connector orientation, and float charge circuit. The BMS on each model expects a 7.2V Ni-MH cell — swapping in a different chemistry or voltage triggers a persistent fault code on the panel display.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the XT2 Plus charge controller and monitored BMS handshake. The panel accepted the cell, entered float charge mode, and cleared the low-battery fault within the expected window — no manual reset required.
  • Post-installation charge hold: Do not run a zone diagnostic or siren test immediately after fitting this cell. Allow 24–48 hours on float charge first. The XT panel BMS samples backup voltage before reporting status — testing too early produces a false low-battery alert even on a healthy new cell.

Alarm panel losing programming during a power outage after fitting a new battery

A freshly installed Ni-MH cell has not yet been accepted by the panel's charge controller. Until the BMS completes its conditioning cycle — typically 48 hours on mains power — the backup voltage is not considered stable enough to sustain panel memory. During a mains outage in that window, the panel draws on an undercharged cell, drops below the memory-hold threshold, and loses its configuration. Let the new cell sit on float charge for a full 48 hours before intentionally cutting mains power or running a backup test.

Siren not sounding on test after backup battery replacement

Some LUPUS XT panels impose a siren suppression delay of 30–60 seconds on first activation after a battery swap. This is a charge-stabilisation window built into the panel firmware — not a wiring fault or a faulty cell. If the siren fires after a short delay during your test, the battery and panel are functioning correctly. If the siren does not sound at all after 60 seconds, check that the panel lid or battery cover is fully closed, as an open tamper contact will suppress output and log a tamper fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

My LUPUS XT1 panel is still showing a low battery warning 2 hours after I put in the new cell — is the battery faulty?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The XT1 BMS samples backup voltage on a float charge cycle, and a freshly installed Ni-MH cell has not yet reached the voltage threshold the panel considers "full." Leave the panel on mains power for 24–48 hours without interruption. The low battery fault clears automatically once the BMS logs a stable reading — no reset button required.

My LUPUS XT2 Plus lost all its zone settings during a power cut the same night I replaced the battery — how do I stop this happening again?

A new Ni-MH cell needs at least 48 hours on float charge before it can sustain panel memory through a mains outage. During that conditioning window, the backup voltage is too low to hold the panel's configuration if mains drops. Reprogram your zones, then leave the panel on mains power undisturbed for 48 hours before the next outage or backup test. After that period, the BMS will have accepted the cell and backup hold voltage will be stable.

The LUPUS XT1 panel is logging a tamper fault every time I close the case after replacing the battery — what's triggering it?

The tamper fault comes from the lid or battery cover microswitch, not the battery itself. If the cell sits slightly proud of its bay — common with a new, fully formed Ni-MH pack — the cover may not seat fully against the tamper contact. Press the cover firmly until it clicks, then check the panel display. If the fault persists, inspect the tamper contact pin on the chassis for debris or a bent post, and reseat the cover at 7.2V nominal so the panel can confirm the tamper circuit is closed.
