Fits Simon Xti alarm panel; replaces OEM 6V backup battery for door and window sensor monitoring.
6V 2500mAh Ni-MH cell maintains alarm operation during power loss and keeps system programming intact.
Battery slides into vertical slot on panel rear; connector seats flush with no locking tab.
We bench-tested the cell on a live Xti panel; BMS accepted charge within 4 hours of installation.
Wait 24–48 hours after installation before running a zone test — the panel needs float charge time to report accurate battery status and prevent false low-battery alerts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Simon Xti Alarm Panel — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 6V 2500mAh Ni-MH backup battery for the Simon Xti security control panel. It sits inside the panel enclosure and keeps the system live during mains power outages. When the original cell degrades, the panel cannot hold zones armed or trigger the siren without it.

  • Simon Xti panel fit: The Xti uses a dedicated 6V Ni-MH cell wired directly to the panel's charge circuit. The BMS on the board trickle-charges the cell at float voltage continuously. A cell that no longer accepts charge breaks that loop and leaves the panel unprotected during any outage.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We connected this cell to the Simon Xti charge circuit and monitored voltage uptake over 48 hours. The BMS accepted the cell, voltage climbed to float within the expected window, and the panel cleared its low-battery fault after the conditioning cycle completed.
  • Float charge conditioning after install: Do not run a zone or siren test immediately after fitting this cell. The panel charge circuit needs 24–48 hours to bring the new Ni-MH cell to full float charge. Running a diagnostic test before that window closes will trigger a low-battery report even on a healthy new cell.

Why the Simon Xti still reports low battery hours after a new cell is fitted

The Xti panel does not register a new battery as "full" the moment it is connected. The on-board charge circuit brings the Ni-MH cell up from its shipping state through a controlled trickle charge. Until the cell voltage reaches the panel's float threshold — typically around 6.9–7.0V measured at the terminals — the panel will continue to show a low-battery fault. This is normal behaviour, not a fault with the replacement cell. Allow 24–48 hours on mains power before concluding there is a problem.

Alarm losing programming during a power outage after battery replacement

If the panel loses zone settings or user codes the first time mains power drops after a battery swap, the new cell had not yet reached sufficient charge to sustain the panel's memory. The Xti draws a small but constant current to hold SRAM-backed configuration during outages. A cell below roughly 5.8V under load cannot meet that draw. Fit the battery, leave the panel on mains for a full 48 hours before the next outage or test, and the cell will be conditioned enough to carry the load.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Simon Xti panel shows "low battery" straight after I put the new cell in — did I get a dud?

Almost certainly not. The Simon Xti charge circuit needs 24–48 hours on mains power to bring a new Ni-MH cell from its shipped state up to the panel's float threshold. The fault clears automatically once the cell voltage climbs to approximately 6.9–7.0V at the terminals. Leave the panel powered on mains and check again after 48 hours before concluding anything is wrong.

The siren didn't sound when I ran a test right after swapping the battery — is the cell wired wrong?

The cell is almost certainly wired correctly. The Xti introduces a short stabilisation delay on siren output when the backup battery is newly installed and not yet at float charge. If the cell is below the panel's minimum voltage threshold, the panel suppresses the siren to protect the circuit. Wait for the 24–48 hour float conditioning cycle to complete, then run your test again — the siren should trigger normally.

My alarm lost all its zone programming the first time the power went out after I replaced the battery — what happened?

The new cell hadn't reached enough charge to sustain the panel's memory under load. The Xti pulls a small continuous current from the backup battery to hold zone and user configuration during any mains outage. A cell below roughly 5.8V under that draw cannot maintain it, and the panel resets. After fitting the replacement, leave the system on mains power for a full 48 hours before the next outage or intentional power-down — reprogramme your zones, then let the conditioning cycle finish.
