Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sonel PAT-10 / PAT-2 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (WAAKU19)

This 7.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the WAAKU19 cell in the Sonel PAT-10 and PAT-2 portable printers. These are compact field printers used in logistics, inspection, and retail environments where mains power is unavailable. Voltage and capacity match OEM spec directly.

  • PAT-10 and PAT-2 shared battery platform: Both models run the same 7.4V two-cell Li-ion pack with an identical connector and BMS handshake protocol. Sonel consolidated the battery across this printer line, so one cell serves both units without any modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on compatible hardware and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell, released the charge lock, and drove the paper feed motor without a protection trip at startup.
  • First-use print sequence: After installing, charge the battery fully and print five test pages before deploying in the field. The paper feed motor draws a short current spike on each print job, and running that sequence confirms the BMS has profiled the new cell correctly and will not cut out mid-job under motor load.

Why the PAT-10 stops printing after sitting unused for several weeks

Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month under storage conditions. If the PAT-10 sits unused long enough, the cell voltage drops below the BMS minimum motor-drive threshold — typically around 6.0V for a 7.4V nominal pack. At that point the printer powers on but the feed motor does not engage, so the device appears functional while producing nothing. Connecting to the charger for a full cycle before use restores the cell above the drive threshold and clears the fault state.

Faded or uneven print output on a battery that still shows charge

The thermal print head in the PAT-10 and PAT-2 requires a stable voltage to maintain consistent head temperature across the full print width. As a Li-ion cell ages, internal resistance rises — voltage sags during the current draw of each print line, and the head temperature fluctuates slightly as a result. The output shows as faded bands or inconsistent darkness across the receipt, even though the battery indicator still reads partial charge. If cleaning the head does not resolve it, check resting cell voltage: a healthy 7.4V pack should read above 7.8V fully charged.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Sonel PAT-10 powers on but won't print anything after I left it in the van for a month — what's happening?

Extended storage lets the cell self-discharge below the minimum voltage the BMS needs to drive the paper feed motor — the printer boots but the motor circuit stays locked out. Plug in and charge fully before attempting to print again. If the charger does not recognise the battery after deep discharge, hold the power button for 10 seconds with the charger connected to force a BMS wake cycle. The pack should recover once it reads above 6.0V at the cell terminals.

The PAT-2 keeps dropping its Bluetooth connection mid-print job — could the battery be the cause?

Yes. The Bluetooth radio and print motor run simultaneously during a job, and a worn or low cell causes a voltage sag that briefly starves the radio module. The radio drops out to protect its power rail, which the app reads as a disconnection. Charge the battery fully and retry — if the drop-outs stop, the old cell's capacity had degraded past the point where it could supply both loads at once. A new cell at full charge holds voltage stable through combined motor and radio draw.

My PAT-10 is jamming paper on almost every print job since the battery got old — is that a battery issue or a mechanical one?

Check the battery first. The feed motor torque is directly proportional to the voltage it receives, and a degraded cell sags under motor load, reducing the grip pressure the rollers apply to the paper. That drop in torque is enough to stall the feed mid-sheet, which the printer registers as a jam. Clean the rollers to rule out contamination, then charge the battery fully and test again. If jamming stops on a full charge but returns as the battery depletes, the cell needs replacing.
