Fits Zebra QLN420 and ZQ630 mobile printers; replaces OEM part numbers P1040687, P1050667-016, and BTRY-MPP-68MA1-01.
7.4V 4400mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 32.56Wh — sustains thermal print head temperature and motor current draw across full label batches.
Battery slides into the rear slot with a single locking tab; connector is a four-pin Molex-style cartridge that seats flush when fully inserted.
We bench-tested this pack on a QLN420 at 50% discharge; the BMS stabilized voltage ramp during the first three charge cycles without fault detection.
After installation, charge fully and print five test receipts before field deployment — the thermal head requires a calibration sequence to confirm stable voltage delivery from the new cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zebra QLN420 / ZQ630 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (P1040687)

This 7.4V 4400mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original power pack in the Zebra QLN420 and ZQ630 mobile printers. Both are compact thermal printers used in retail, healthcare, and logistics for on-the-go receipt and label printing. It also crosses to OEM part numbers P1050667-016 and BTRY-MPP-68MA1-01.

  • QLN420 and ZQ630 compatibility: Both models share the same 7.4V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell fits both platforms without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the QLN420's charge cycle and confirmed BMS communication, thermal cutoff response, and correct charge termination at 8.4V under standard load.
  • Motor initialisation after install: After fitting this battery, charge it fully and print five test labels before field deployment. The paper feed motor draws a calibration-level current spike on first use, and the BMS needs those cycles to settle its current profile for the new cell.

Why the QLN420 drops Bluetooth mid-print job

The QLN420's Bluetooth radio and thermal print head share power from the same cell. When battery voltage sags below roughly 6.8V under combined load, the radio doesn't get enough voltage to maintain its transmission window. The printer drops the connection before the print job completes. Keeping the battery above 7.0V resting voltage before a shift eliminates most mid-job disconnects.

Faded or uneven print after a new battery install

Inconsistent print darkness on a new battery usually means the thermal head isn't receiving stable voltage during the heating cycle. This happens when the BMS is still calibrating its discharge curve across the first few cycles. Print density is directly tied to how consistently the head reaches its target temperature — voltage fluctuation during those first prints causes uneven output. Run five to ten full-page prints and the BMS settles; density evens out from there.

Frequently Asked Questions

My QLN420 won't print anything after sitting unused for two months — battery shows charged but nothing happens

A long storage period can drop the cell below the minimum voltage the printer's motor drive circuit needs to initialise — even if the indicator shows "charged." The BMS may have entered a sleep state that requires a full charge cycle to reset. Plug the printer in for a complete charge to 8.4V, then attempt a self-test print using the printer's feed button before connecting it to your app.

Paper feed is jamming on the QLN420 but the paper path is clear

The paper feed motor relies on consistent torque from the battery — when voltage is low or the cell is degraded, the motor doesn't generate enough force to advance the paper cleanly, and it stalls mid-feed. This is a load-under-voltage issue, not a mechanical jam. Check resting battery voltage; anything below 7.0V before a print cycle means the cell is too depleted to drive the feed motor reliably. Charge to full before the next print run.

My ZQ630 keeps showing a low battery warning even though the battery was just replaced

The ZQ630's battery gauge reads state-of-charge from the BMS, and a new cell needs two to three full charge-discharge cycles before the gauge calibrates accurately. On a fresh install the BMS hasn't mapped the cell's actual capacity yet, so it can report a pessimistic charge level. Run the printer through two complete cycles — full charge, print until the low warning triggers, then charge again — and the gauge reading will align with the cell's true capacity.
