Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sonim XP3 Plus / XP3900 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BAT-02300-01S)
This 3.85V, 1400mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces part number BAT-02300-01S in the Sonim XP3 Plus and XP3900 rugged smartphones. It fits both models directly, restoring power to a device built for industrial and outdoor use. Capacity is 1400mAh (5.39Wh) — matching the factory specification.
- XP3 Plus and XP3900 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The same cell works across both variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the XP3 platform. The BMS responded correctly to charge termination, and the fuel gauge IC accepted the cell without triggering a fault state.
- First-cycle fast charge protocol: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard current. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the XP3 Plus after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still mapped to the old cell's discharge curve. The new cell hits a voltage cliff — typically around 3.5V under modem or display load — before the reported percentage reaches zero. The phone shuts down to protect the cell, even though the gauge shows charge remaining. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard current resets the coulomb counter and brings the percentage readout back in line with actual cell voltage.
XP3 Plus not powering on after sitting in storage
Li-Polymer cells left discharged in storage can drop below 2.5V per cell, which triggers a BMS lockout — the battery stops responding entirely to protect against cell damage. The phone will not boot and may not show a charging indicator when you plug in. Connect to a wall charger rated at 5V and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing any buttons; the BMS recovery circuit needs sustained low-current input to exit lockout. If the device still shows no sign of life after that window, check the charger is delivering at least 5V 1A before drawing any other conclusions.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Sonim XP3 Plus shuts off at around 25% battery — why does it keep doing this on the new cell?
The fuel gauge IC was calibrated to your original cell's discharge curve, not the replacement. When the new cell's voltage drops under modem or screen load, it hits a cutoff point the gauge hasn't mapped yet — so the phone shuts down while still showing charge remaining. Run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without fast charging enabled. After that single cycle the coulomb counter recalibrates and the percentage readout tracks the actual cell voltage correctly.
Fast charging stopped working after I fitted the BAT-02300-01S — the XP3 Plus is only charging slowly now.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the BMS on the new cell may not immediately accept the handshake required for high-current charging. This is normal — the charge IC defaults to standard current until it can verify the cell is within safe parameters. Charge the phone fully once at standard rate without interrupting the session. On the second cycle, fast charging should resume; if the XP3 Plus still won't accept fast charge after two full cycles, check that the cable and adapter support the correct voltage and current for the device's charge protocol.
The battery percentage on my XP3 Plus is jumping around erratically — it went from 60% to 41% in two minutes without me using the phone.
Erratic percentage jumps are a fuel gauge IC recalibration symptom, not a sign the cell is faulty. The coulomb counter is comparing live cell voltage against a stored discharge curve that no longer matches the new cell's characteristics. The gauge corrects in large steps until it builds an accurate profile. Let the battery discharge naturally to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% in one uninterrupted session at standard current — the IC will write a new discharge curve and the percentage readout will stabilise from the next cycle onward.
