Fits Sony NWZ-W262 Walkman Sports MP3 player; replaces OEM part 1ICP5/14/26 1S1P.
3.7V 150mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers sustained power for extended outdoor listening sessions.
Connector solders directly to the player's internal contact pads; no keyed slot.
Bench testing shows steady voltage delivery under typical audio amplifier draw; BMS stable.
After installation, connect the charger and allow thirty minutes of trickle current before powering on—the NWZ-W262 enters deep discharge protection after long storage and requires this reset cycle to accept normal charge rates.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony NWZ-W262 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (1ICP5/14/26 1S1P)

This is a 3.7V, 150mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Sony NWZ-W262 Walkman Sports MP3 player. It matches the original cell format at 26.64 x 12.55 x 6.05mm and slots into the same battery bay. Voltage and capacity are matched to the OEM spec so the player's charge indicator and protection circuit behave normally.

  • NWZ-W262 fit: The W262 uses a compact Li-Polymer pouch cell on a dedicated battery board with a single-cell BMS. Voltage must sit at 3.7V nominal — any deviation and the protection IC flags an error before the player finishes booting.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the W262 platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without triggering low-voltage lockout or overcharge cutoff during a standard USB charge cycle.
  • First-charge protocol for the NWZ-W262: If the replacement cell arrives in a low state, connect the player to USB and leave it charging for a full cycle before powering on. The W262's protection circuit may hold the device in a locked state until the cell reaches the minimum threshold voltage to trigger normal charge current.

Playback cutting out before the battery indicator shows empty

At the tail end of a discharge cycle, cell voltage drops below the level the audio amplifier needs to drive output cleanly. The W262's amplifier stage requires a stable voltage rail — when the cell sags past roughly 3.2V under load, the processor shuts down playback before the indicator has updated. This is a normal BMS cutoff, not a fault. A full charge cycle should restore normal behaviour; if dropout keeps happening earlier in the charge cycle, the cell is degraded and needs replacement.

Battery percentage jumping erratically after fitting the new cell

The NWZ-W262 estimates charge state by mapping cell voltage against a stored discharge curve calibrated to the original cell. A new cell with a slightly different open-circuit voltage at rest will confuse that mapping until the device recalibrates. Run two full charge-to-cutoff cycles without interrupting playback. After both cycles the voltage-threshold table resets and the percentage readout stabilises.

Frequently Asked Questions

My NWZ-W262 won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for months — is the battery dead or is there a reset?

Extended storage drains a small Li-Polymer cell to the point where the BMS enters deep-discharge lockout and the player cannot power on unaided. Connect it to a USB charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes without pressing the power button — the BMS needs trickle current to bring the cell back above the minimum threshold before normal charging begins. Once the charge LED activates, let it run through a complete charge cycle before powering on. If the LED never activates after 45 minutes on charge, the original cell is fully dead and replacement is the next step.

Playback cuts out suddenly mid-song but the battery indicator still shows charge remaining — what's causing this?

The audio amplifier in the W262 draws a short current spike when driving audio output, and at the low end of a discharge cycle the cell voltage sags enough under that load to trip the protection circuit — even if the indicator hasn't caught up yet. The indicator updates on a slow polling cycle, so it lags behind actual cell voltage. This is normal behaviour as the cell ages and its internal resistance rises. Replacing the cell restores the voltage headroom the amplifier needs; after fitting the new cell, run a full charge cycle before testing playback again.

The battery percentage on my NWZ-W262 jumps from 60% straight to 10% without warning — is the new cell faulty?

This is a calibration gap, not a faulty cell. The W262 maps charge state by comparing real-time cell voltage against a discharge curve stored during the original cell's life — a new cell with a different voltage profile at each state of charge makes that map inaccurate. Run two complete cycles: charge to full, play until the device shuts itself off from low battery, then charge to full again without interruption. After both cycles the firmware recalculates its voltage thresholds and the percentage readout will track accurately.
