Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Speed D1 / D2 / D5 / D6 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 3.7V Li-ion replacement battery with 1050mAh (3.89Wh) capacity for the Speed D1, D2, D5, and D6 camera models, plus five additional compatible models in the same series. It slots into the battery compartment to restore power to the camera body for photo and video capture. No OEM part number is published for this cell.
- D1 / D2 / D5 / D6 series fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, contact layout, and 3.7V operating rail. The BMS in each body expects the same voltage curve, so one cell covers the full range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a camera body. The BMS accepted the cell after one full charge cycle, reported a stable voltage reading, and held the protection circuit within normal cutoff thresholds throughout.
- First-install charge cycle: Run the first charge from inside the camera body or the OEM charger — not a third-party USB adapter. Some Speed bodies require an in-body charge cycle before the battery-remaining indicator maps correctly to the new cell's discharge curve.
Flash capacitor recharge pulling voltage down mid-shoot
The built-in flash on compact camera bodies like the Speed D-series draws a sharp current spike each time the capacitor recharges between shots. At 3.7V nominal, a 1050mAh cell handles this well early in the discharge curve. Near the end of charge, internal resistance rises and the voltage sags briefly under that capacitor load. The camera may display a low-battery warning even though the cell isn't fully depleted. If flash recycle time slows noticeably, the cell is approaching the lower cutoff — charge before the next session rather than continuing to shoot.
Battery percentage jumping or dropping suddenly on the display
This happens when the camera's fuel gauge maps its percentage thresholds to the OEM cell's discharge curve, which differs slightly from the replacement cell's curve. The camera reads the same voltage point and assigns a different percentage than expected. It's a calibration artefact, not a cell fault. Run two or three full charge-to-cutoff cycles through the camera body and the indicator will stabilise as the BMS re-learns the discharge profile.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Speed D1 shows a dead battery icon immediately after fitting the new cell — it won't even power on. What's happening?
The camera BMS is running an authentication check on the new cell and rejecting it before it draws any current. This is common on the first install of a replacement cell. Place the battery in the OEM charger or charge it directly in the camera body via the correct charger until the charge indicator shows full, then power the camera on. One full charge cycle is usually enough for the BMS to accept the cell and clear the icon.
My shot count is significantly lower than I expected — the battery drains well before I've taken as many shots as the original.
Shot count estimates assume a standard mix of exposures with minimal flash, no continuous autofocus, and short review times. In practice, sustained video, frequent flash use, and live-view shooting all pull considerably more current than a single still frame. The 1050mAh capacity is unchanged — but your actual draw profile may be heavier than the baseline figure assumes. To extend shots per charge, reduce flash frequency and limit continuous video clips to what you need.
The camera body gets noticeably warm during long video sessions — is that a battery issue or something else?
The heat comes primarily from the image sensor and processor running continuously, not from the battery cell itself. The 3.7V Li-ion cell does carry sustained current during video, but the dominant heat source is the combined draw of the sensor, stabilisation, and encoding hardware inside the body. The cell's BMS will cut off if the cell temperature reaches its internal thermal threshold, which would cause the camera to shut down mid-clip. If the body is warm but the camera keeps running, the cell is within normal limits — check that the battery contacts are clean and the compartment door is fully latched.
