Roadster DXG-521 / DSC-521 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V 1050mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the DXG-521 and DSC-521 compact digital cameras. It shares the same dimensions (53.20 × 35.30 × 7.10mm) as the factory cell, so it fits the battery compartment without modification. The DXG-521's fuel gauge reads voltage thresholds calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new third-party cell has a slightly different discharge profile, so the camera can misread state of charge on the first few cycles. The indicator may show empty even when the cell has usable charge remaining. After two or three full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body, the gauge typically stabilises and reads more accurately.

Battery percentage jumping erratically mid-session

This happens when the camera's voltage-threshold mapping doesn't align with how the new cell's voltage drops under load. The indicator can leap from 60% to 20% in a single burst of shots. It's a display calibration issue, not a fault with the cell itself. Run two full cycles — charge to 4.2V, discharge through normal shooting — and the readings will track more consistently.
