Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sprint Slate 80 / AQT80 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery

This is a 3.8V, 4400mAh (16.72Wh) Li-Polymer cell for the Sprint Slate 80 and AQT80 tablets. It replaces the original battery when the tablet no longer holds charge, shuts down unexpectedly, or fails to power on. Dimensions are 110.00 × 100.06 × 3.20mm — match these before installing.

  • Slate 80 and AQT80 compatibility: Both models run the same 3.8V power rail with an identical connector and cell footprint, so a single cell covers both variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran full charge and discharge cycles on this cell and monitored the BMS trip points. The protection circuit responded correctly to overcharge, over-discharge, and short-circuit conditions at expected voltage thresholds.
  • Fuel gauge reset after installation: After fitting this battery, run one complete discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the tablet. This lets the fuel gauge IC calibrate against the new cell and corrects the inaccurate percentage readings that commonly appear right after a swap.

Slate 80 shutting down at 15–25% remaining after a battery swap

The Slate 80's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. When the new cell hits a voltage cliff — typically around 3.5V under combined display and WiFi load — the tablet interprets this as a critical shutdown threshold even though capacity remains. The fix is one full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%. After that cycle, the IC recalibrates and the reported cutoff aligns with the actual 3.0V cell minimum.

Fast charging not working on the Slate 80 after battery replacement

Fast charge protocols — including USB-PD negotiation — require the charger and device to complete at least one accepted charge handshake with the new cell before the charge IC unlocks higher current. If fast charge does not appear immediately after installation, that is expected behaviour, not a fault. Plug into the original Sprint charger and complete one full charge cycle from under 10% to 100%. After that cycle, fast charge should re-engage on subsequent sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Sprint Slate 80 says 80% battery but shuts itself off — what's causing that?

The fuel gauge IC stored the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell. Your new battery hits a voltage drop under combined screen and WiFi load that the IC misreads as empty — so it cuts power while capacity is still there. Run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single cycle resets the calibration and stops the premature shutdown.

The battery percentage on my Slate 80 is jumping around — goes from 60% to 30% in minutes after the swap.

Percentage jumps after a swap are caused by the fuel gauge IC reading the new cell's voltage against the old cell's stored reference points. The two curves don't match, so the reported number drifts badly under load. Do one complete discharge-to-shutoff followed by a full uninterrupted charge to 100%. After that cycle the IC recalibrates against the new cell and the percentage stabilises.

The Slate 80 feels warm near the charging port while the new battery is charging — is something wrong?

Heat at the charging port during the first few cycles is normal. The charge IC on the device is negotiating current limits with a new cell whose internal resistance profile it hasn't seen before. Surface temperature should stay below 40°C. If the tablet gets hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold or charge stops mid-cycle, check that the charger output matches the original Sprint spec — 5V/2A is the correct starting point.
