Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Stealth Cam Deceptor Max / FieldMax Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (STC-RLCMAX)
This is an 11.1V 3400mAh Li-ion battery for Stealth Cam trail cameras including the Deceptor Max, FieldMax, Flashback, and Fusion Max. It replaces OEM part STC-RLCMAX directly. Use it in remote field locations where the original pack has drained during extended wildlife monitoring sessions.
- Multi-model fit across the Deceptor and FieldMax platform: The Deceptor Max, FieldMax, Flashback, and Fusion Max all run the same 11.1V three-cell architecture with a shared connector and BMS handshake — that is why one pack covers this group of cameras.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the STC-RLCMAX platform. The BMS responded correctly to cell voltage thresholds, and the camera recognised the pack without firmware prompts.
- Cold-field pre-warm tip: Li-ion cells lose 15–25% capacity at 0°C and up to 40% at –20°C. Before heading to the stand in freezing temperatures, keep this battery in an inner jacket pocket. Swap it into the camera just before mounting — a cold battery left inside an unheated housing overnight will start the day significantly under capacity.
Why the Deceptor Max misses triggers after a cold night in the field
The Deceptor Max draws a short burst of power each time its PIR sensor fires and the image processor spins up. In cold conditions, internal cell resistance rises, and that burst causes a sharper voltage sag than the same draw at room temperature. If the sag drops close to the BMS low-voltage cutoff, the camera may stall mid-trigger or skip captures entirely — without showing a low-battery indicator. The fix is starting the day with a warm, fully charged pack and swapping batteries before the temperature drops below –10°C.
Camera shows full charge then shuts off after a few captures
This is classic shallow-cycle capacity fade on a Li-ion pack that has been repeatedly topped off without full discharge cycles. The fuel gauge reads the surface charge on the cells, not true capacity — so the indicator lies. The BMS then hits its real low-voltage floor within a handful of trigger events and cuts power. Condition the new pack with two full charge-and-discharge cycles before field deployment, and check resting cell voltage sits above 11.0V before mounting the camera.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Deceptor Max stops capturing images in the morning but works fine by midday — what's happening?
Cold overnight temperatures raise internal cell resistance in Li-ion packs, which causes a sharper voltage sag each time the PIR sensor fires and the processor spins up. The BMS hits its low-voltage cutoff under that load even though the battery isn't fully depleted. Store this battery in an insulated bag or inner pocket overnight and install it just before you head out. A pack warmed to around 20°C will hold its voltage under trigger load where a cold one won't.
The camera never fired once during a week-long deployment — battery was fully charged when I left it. Could storage in the housing have drained it?
Yes. A Li-ion pack sealed inside an unheated housing in sub-zero conditions can self-discharge below the camera's minimum boot voltage before a single trigger fires. At –20°C, Li-ion cells can lose up to 40% of usable capacity just from thermal suppression, not discharge cycles. Before any multi-day deployment in winter, check resting voltage is at or above 11.1V immediately before mounting. If the pack reads below 10.5V on a meter, recharge it fully before putting it in the field.
After I retrieved the camera from a wet hunt, the battery compartment had moisture in it — is the pack safe to charge?
Do not charge the pack until you have confirmed there is no moisture on the contacts or inside the battery housing. Moisture on the contacts can cause a partial short during charging, which stresses cells and can trip the BMS into a locked fault state. Dry the compartment thoroughly, wipe the battery terminals with a dry cloth, and let everything air out for at least an hour. Once fully dry, check that the battery casing shows no swelling or corrosion before connecting it to a charger.
