Fits Stiga Combi 43 AE and related models, replaces OEM part SBT 2580AE.
80V 4000mAh lithium-ion delivers 320Wh for residential mowing without mid-deck power sag.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a positive locking tab; no adapter needed.
We bench-tested this cell on a Combi 43 AE cutting deck motor — BMS accepted the pack cleanly, no fault codes, stable under full-throttle blade load.
If the mower cuts out mid-row then restarts after a few seconds, allow five minutes cooldown before resuming — the 80V motor under thick grass generates heat that triggers thermal protection normally.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Stiga Combi 43 AE / Combi 48 AE — 80V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SBT 2580AE)

This is an 80V lithium-ion replacement battery rated at 4000mAh (320Wh), built to fit the Stiga Combi 43 AE, Combi 43 S AE, Combi 48 AE, Combi 50 S AE, and over a dozen additional models in the Stiga AE cordless mower range. It slots into the same battery bay as the original SBT 2580AE, SBT 4080 AE, and SBT 5080 AE packs. The BMS communicates with the mower's motor controller at the same handshake voltage as the factory unit.

  • AE platform compatibility: The Combi 43 AE, 43 S AE, 48 AE, and 50 S AE share the same 80V battery rail and connector pinout. The BMS on each model expects the same cell voltage thresholds and state-of-charge signal — this pack meets those requirements without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on a Combi 43 AE under simulated blade load. The BMS held its cutoff threshold correctly during inrush, delivered consistent voltage through discharge, and triggered low-cell protection at the expected floor voltage without nuisance tripping.
  • First use of the season: Before your first spring cut, bring the battery indoors overnight if temperatures are below 10°C. Cold Li-ion cells carry higher internal resistance, and the blade motor's inrush current at startup can trip the BMS on a pack that hasn't warmed to room temperature.

BMS cutoff under thick grass and wet-lawn blade load

The Stiga AE mower draws its heaviest current at the moment the blade engages dense or wet grass. That inrush spike can briefly exceed what the BMS permits if the cells are cold or partially discharged. The BMS reads this as an over-current event and shuts the pack down to protect the cells. Starting with a fully charged, room-temperature pack significantly reduces the chance of a nuisance trip in heavy cutting conditions.

Charger showing a fault light after the mower sat all winter

Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly over months of garage storage. If the pack drops below roughly 2.5V per cell, most chargers refuse to begin a charge cycle — the fault LED is the charger rejecting a pack it reads as critically under-voltage. Some Stiga chargers include a recovery mode: remove the pack, wait 60 seconds, reinsert it, and watch for the charge LED to switch from fault to charging. If the fault persists after two attempts, the cells have dropped too far for safe recovery and the pack needs replacing.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Stiga mower cuts out halfway through a row, then starts again after a minute — is the battery failing?

This is thermal protection activating, not cell failure. The blade motor generates heat during sustained cutting, and the BMS trips the pack once internal temperature hits its threshold. After a 5-minute cooldown the pack resets and the mower starts normally. If this happens on every row rather than only in long sessions or thick grass, check that the battery contacts are clean and seated — poor contact causes resistance heat that triggers the same cutoff sooner.

The pack runs noticeably hotter than my old battery during the first few cuts — is something wrong?

New cells go through a conditioning phase during their first charge-discharge cycles. The chemistry hasn't yet settled into its full cycle pattern, so internal resistance is slightly higher than it will be after break-in, and that produces a bit more heat. This is normal across the first 3–5 full cycles. If the pack is still running hot after cycle 5, check the charger output voltage matches the 80V spec on the label.

My Stiga charger won't accept the new pack — the light just blinks red and never switches to charging. What do I do?

A blinking red fault usually means the charger is reading the pack's resting voltage as outside its acceptance window. Remove the pack from the charger, wait 60 seconds, then reinsert it firmly — some Stiga chargers require a clean connection reset to begin the handshake. If the fault repeats, check that the battery contacts on both the pack and the charger port are free of dirt or corrosion. After cleaning, reinsert and hold the pack down for 5 seconds; the charge LED should switch to solid red or green once the BMS handshake completes.
